208 <br /> APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE <br /> DATE: February 17, 1976 <br /> TIME: 7:30 P.M. <br /> PLACE: Town Office Bldg. Room 111 <br /> PRESENT: Edward E. Furash, Chairman, Donald B. White, Vice-Chairman, <br /> Schools, Martin Gilman, J.H. Blaisdell, Patricia Hagedorn, <br /> Howard L. Levingston, John Campbell, Peter Hall, Richard <br /> M. Perry, Secretary <br /> I . BC/.BS <br /> a) Chairman Furash stated he would not recommend this 75/25. <br /> b) Cost increase is very high to the town. <br /> c) The Town cannot afford to pick up this kind of cost. <br /> d) We do not believe we are getting adequate attention from <br /> the Town Meeting on the rising costs of fringes. <br /> f) Chairman Bailey stated that for 2 years we have been aiming <br /> in this direction. <br /> g) We want Town Meeting to vote on this one , Chairman Furash <br /> stated. It will not be debated if we don't go against it. <br /> h) Mr. Busa stated that the Appropriation Committee knew about <br /> this last year and that we have already committed outselves. <br /> i ) Chairman Furash stated that he believed the citizen's should <br /> know what they are getting for their dollars. <br /> j ) Chairman Furash said he wanted to know the deficit on a 50/50 <br /> basis. <br /> 'flk) 2/3 municipalities are on 2/25 - 1/3 on 50/50. <br /> 1) We are telling the Town Meeting not to pay this bill: <br /> m) We have never been told that this was in the contract the <br /> Chairman stated. <br /> n) J. Butler stated he felt this was all done in good faith and <br /> that 75/25 was the only way now we had to package this. <br /> o) Mr. Crain stated that the Boards must say "what kind of a <br /> package they can afford" . <br /> p) Chairman Furash stated that he wanted to know why he didn' t <br /> have the Town Manager's latest figures? <br /> II . APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE SECRETARY <br /> Mr. John Blaisdell moves and Mrs. Patricia <br /> A. Hagedorn seconds to accept with sincere <br /> and deep regret Mr. Richard M. Perry's <br /> resignation as Secretary of the Appropriation <br /> Committee and that the Committee greatly <br /> appreciates his fine , outstanding work. <br />
