177 APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE DATE: December 6, 1975 TIME: 9 : 00 A.M. PLACE: Town Office Bldg. Selectmen' s Room PRESENT: Edward E. Furash, Chairman, Donald B. White, Vice Chairman- Schools, Maxine Kutchin, J. H. Blaisdell, Harry Hall, Patricia A. Hagedorn, Richard M. Perry, Secretary Board of Selectmen ``1 Capital Expenditures Committee I. BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE Town Report - Due to a Bicentennial Insert in the report the cost will be raised approximately $4500 . Chairman Furash stated that we could not handle this as a Reserve Fund Transfer as the expense is not extraordinary or unforeseen. Therefore, I think it should come out of the Selectmen' s budget. J. Blaisdell concluded he felt it should come out of the Bicentennial Committee' s budget. Chairman Bailey stated he felt the added funds should come from Article 34 of the 1974 Town Meeting. II. RECREATION Ballfield Lighting 1. Original figure $38,000. 2. Figure now in excess of $60,000 . 3 . Land for a better site? Is this possible, i.e. , Harrington? No reason to consider a change stated Mr. Busa as the center is the prime location due to High School and Hayden facilities . 4. Selectman Kassler stated he would like to see several baseball fields even though they are not considered prime fields - I cannot see spending additional $10 ,000-15 ,000 when we need the money for other things Dr. Kassler stated. 5. Chairman Bailey asked Mr. McSweeney if the $38 ,000 would buy lights on any field and he replied it would be "very close" . 6. Chairman Furash stated he felt the project should be put on the shelf and go back to Town Meeting for the additional money. 7. This is exactly why we asked for the recreation study. 8. Mr. McSweeney stated that engineering money was essential here in order to go to Town Meeting with the facts.
