127
DATE: January 20, 1975
TIME: 7:30 P.M.
PLACE: Town Office Building, Room 111
PRESENT: Edward E. Furash, Chairman, Jack L. Mitchell, Vice Chairman-
Gen. Govt-Donald B. White, Vice Chairman-Schools, J. H.
Blaisdell, Howard L. Levingston, Richard M. Perry,
Comptroller
°"4 I. SCHEDULE
Saturday, February 8, 1975
8:30 A.M. - Board of Selectmen to discuss Personnel Requests
10:30 A.M. - Recreation
II . SCHOOL BUDGET
a. Minuteman Vocational Budget is 3 million. Mr. White
reported that he felt this figure had been taken out of the
air and that he had seen no budget figures as of this date.
This has to be taken down to 22 million if they want our
support, Mr. White stated. We will fight it on Town Meeting
Floor and send it back for review unless reduced. Chairman
Furash concurred with this statement.
b. Mr. White will report back as soon as he has had a meeting
with the School Committee regarding their budget.
III. HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Dr. Cosgrove met at his request and made the following points:
a. Flu clinic doubled this year.
b. 75% increase in materials.
c. Lab equipment needed. As it stands not health officer does
his own work and equipment is not sufficient. Would like to
do milk analysis here instead of transporting to Quincy. This
is not satisfactory in hot weather. There is a chance of error
here.
d. Rabies Clinic - Vaccine and needles are going to be increased.
e. Chairman Furash stated he felt it was time to raise cost of
permits.
f. Visiting Nurse Assn. - Teamed up with Arlington. Cost of home
visits per year have been on the increase. i.e. , premature babies,
pre-schoolers who needed extra care. LVNA wants to have six
3-hour clinics to be held at Carey Hall. Dr. Cosgrove does not
approve of this and would rather propose 3 hours at Greeley and
3 hours at Vynebrook.
g. Chairman Furash questioned seriously the continuance of our
relationship in the LVNA.
h. It was suggested that the Board of Health have their own nurse.
Chairman Furash asked that Dr. Cosgrove compile some facts and
figures as to how much this would cost and report back to the
Committee.
