Mitchell, <br /> Vice Chairman, Elizabeth M. Flynn, Secretary, <br /> Arthur T. Bernier, J. H. Blaisdell, Howard L. <br /> Levingston, H. Bigelow Moore , Richard M. Perry, <br /> Donald B. White <br /> I . SANITARY LANDFILL <br /> Present: Mrs. Nel Walker - League of Women Voters <br /> Mrs. Joyce Miller - President - League of Women Voters <br /> A copy of comments on alternative methods to be proposed before <br /> Town Meeting were given to each Committee member. Chairman <br /> Furash stated that he would like to know exactly what the <br /> difference was between the League 's program and the Town <br /> Manager's program. <br /> It was suggested that the Appropriation Committee might just <br /> vote for the study and in the meantime have further explored <br /> other methods, i .e . , incineration, grinding, compaction. The <br /> Chairman made very clear to the League that he felt this was <br /> a two-part programs 1) study 2) implementation. <br /> II . MYSTIC VALLEY MENTAL HEALTH <br /> Present: Mrs . Mary Welch - Director <br /> Mr. Goodwin <br /> The main concern here is the budget Mrs. Welch explained. <br /> Lexington has had more use from Mystic Valley than any of the <br /> other participating towns. There were 233 Lexington cases <br /> treated last year; these cases are being sent to us by Doctors, <br /> churches schools. The biggest item we must cope with are the <br /> professional services . Chairman Furash stated that the Committee <br /> was in no way opposed to Mental Health or did they fail to see <br /> a need for socialsorvi_ce , however, we must control the amount <br /> of money being spent. Mrs. Welch stated that Lexington was <br /> getting $49,500 worth of service per year, yet was only paying <br /> 12,000, We are presently working on Medicare and Medicaid <br /> benefits Mrs. Welch stated. Chairman Furash pointed out that <br /> he felt the methods of fund raising were must inadequate at the <br /> present time . <br /> The Chairman explained to the Mystic Valley group that he and <br /> his Committee would give every consideration to their presentation, <br /> however, he felt that regardless of their decision you will have <br /> to present your story directly to the Town Meeting. <br />
