APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> THURSDAY,JANUARY 3, 2002, ROOM 111 @ 7:45 P.M. <br /> Present: P Hamburger, RPawliczek, K Dooks, D Brown,A Levine, R Eurich, S Spector, <br /> and J Ryan <br /> • General discussion of the BOS list of possible cuts and or funding of"program <br /> improvements". The SC is in the process of preparing a similar listing. <br /> • General discussion of"free cash". J Ryan will prepare an accounting of the <br /> calculation when certified. J Ryan explained the growth calculation identifying <br /> most of the growth being in the area of personal property. There is very little if <br /> any growth in the commercial and industrial segment of the tax base. The <br /> residential growth will probably slow down with the down turn in the economy. <br /> • Discussed the proposed school capital program, specifically the Harrington <br /> School. Concern expressed over the fact that the Harrington may be the swing <br /> space for an extended period of time (15 or more years). The area would be hard <br /> pressed to support two schools for that length of time. Discussion of swing space, <br /> including the possible commercial space and using swing space other than the <br /> Harrington School. <br /> • Discussed the proposed health insurance appropriation request. P Hamburger will <br /> continue to seek data from R Ducharm and K Walsh. <br /> • Discussed project review, deadlines for submission and responsibilities <br /> • Draft of 2002 Warrant will be available at next meeting, January 17, 2002. <br /> Ac.01.03.02 <br />
