APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> DECEMBER 14, 2000, ROOM 105, 7:45 P.M. <br /> Present: P Hamburger, R Pawliczek, R Eurich, S Spector, D Brown, and E Michelson. K <br /> Dooks, A Levine, J Ryan <br /> • MOTION: Approve minutes of November 21, 2000 and December 6, 2000. <br /> Unanimous <br /> • MOTION: Approve the Town report as ammended. Unanimous <br /> • General discussion of health insurance. Sub committee of R Eurich, A Levine, P <br /> Hamburger will set up a meeting with R Ducharme and K Walsh <br /> • General discussion of the Blue Ribbon Committee on capital requirements. What is <br /> the role of the AC? AC will analyze the report, which seems to need content. Is 5% <br /> increase in taxes concave or convex? Question and comments by T Griffiths (CEC). <br /> The BRC was instructed to only look at certain projects with other obvious needs not <br /> being addresses in the report. Is the BRC Report to be considered as Town policy? <br /> Are there alternatives?If so, have they been identified? What does the Town Manager <br /> think the policy and objectives are? A Levine and P Hamburger will attempt to draft <br /> responses to some of these questions. <br /> • Free cash needs more explanation as to how we arrive and replenish the balance. <br /> • BOS budget meeting will be held on December 11, 2000 <br /> • BOS capital meeting will be held on December 18, 2000 <br /> • Senior Center Committee looking at 201 Bedford Street (DPW Barn) and Walgreen's <br /> as well as Monroe School in combination with the Monroe Arts Assoc. <br /> • Fire Department wishes to install a vertical exhaust system at headquarters <br /> • Cary Library cost estimates is due in January 2001. Expect to bid job in April 2001. <br /> Funding is still an issue with Trustees being asked to raise substantial amount. <br /> • CEC may request an article at 2001 ATM for roads. <br /> • General discussion of PAYT <br /> • SC may wish to purchase 4 used portables to be used at the Hastings School <br /> • Meeting Schedule:1/4, 1/11(Summit), 1/18, 1/25, 2/1,2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 3/1, 3/8 <br /> Ac12.14.00 <br />
