APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> MONDAY, MAY 6, 1996 <br /> DIRECTOR'S ROOM, CARY HALL, 7:30 PM <br /> * Present: P Lapointe, M Miley, M Mairson, J Pagett, L Peck, R Colwell, J Ryan <br /> * Absent: R Borghesani, R Leone <br /> * Joyce Miller explained the Art. 24 request. The Augusta property request is for $ 150,000. <br /> The property is currently in bankruptcy court. The Town will purchase the Augusta <br /> property for $ 150,000 and Lexhab will purchase land on Spencer Street for $ 125,000. <br /> The Augusta property could possibly be developed with eight to ten building lots. <br /> * MOTION: Recommend approval of Art 25 for $ 150,000. UNANIMOUS <br /> * Memo from Leo McSweeney dated May 6th reflecting that the BOS are in favor <br /> ( 3 to 2) <br /> of increasing Parking Meter Revenue fees <br /> * P Lapointe stated his opposition and will oppose the amendment reducing the DPW <br /> by $ 117,000 and would therefore follow through with reductions in the Police request <br /> amounting to $ 75,000 with an additional $ 50,000 cut in the Fire request <br /> * MOTION: To reverse earlier recommendation to cut Police Expenses and Fire Expenses. <br /> and recommend a cut in Street Lights. UNANIMOUS <br /> * MOTION: To oppose amendment to increase the Sewer appropriation by $ 100,000 for <br /> an In Lieu of Tax Payment. MAJORITY APPROVED <br /> * MOTION: To oppose amendment to increase the Recreation appropriation by $ 50,000 <br /> for an In Lieu of Tax Payment.
