APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> THURSDAY, MARCH 21, 1996 <br /> COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE, 7:30 PM <br /> Present: P Lapointe, R Leone, L Peck, R Borghesani, M Miley, R Colwell, J Pagett, J Ryan <br /> Absent: M Mairson, M Hastings <br /> * P Lapointe discussed the issuance of the AC Report to Town Meeting with M Battin. <br /> Will be distributed on April 8th at Town Meeting <br /> * K Dooks is scheduled to give distribute a short version for the CEC on March 27th at the <br /> TMMA Meeting <br /> * General discussion of the memo dated March 18th from P Lapointe to J Young and R <br /> White <br /> * R Borghesani stated that he felt we should leave Town Meeting with $ 1mm but how do <br /> we get there? <br /> * P Lapointe received a call from J Dini indicating that J Young felt he could cut between <br /> $ 600 and 700K before hitting the class size issue. There is a need for a more substantial <br /> indication as to where we will be in five years <br /> * BOS and SC will meet together on Monday, March 25th <br /> * M Miley suggested that perhaps the AC need to present its own budget <br /> recommendations <br /> * R Leone feels that the Town is on a cycle where we will need an override every two or <br /> three years <br /> * P Lapointe discussed the on going MMRVHS issue. At Tuesday's meeting there was <br /> some discussion of the MMRVHS budget request. If six communities reject the budget <br /> they will have to re-do it. Press on into looking at fund balances. <br /> * MOTION: To recommend $ 424,087 for the MMRVHS Assessment for fy 97. This is the <br /> minimum funding required under the Education Reform Act. UNANIMOUS <br /> * General discussion of technology handout <br /> * Carol Mahoney will update the AC on cost estimates for the library <br /> acmt32196 <br />
