APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> , WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 1994 <br /> DIRECTOR'S ROOM CARY HALL, 7:30 PM <br /> Present: G Burnell, C Coughlin, P Lapointe, J Pagett, M Mairson, R Souza, <br /> R Borgheasni, J Ryan <br /> Absent: S Nablo, C Abbott, M O'Sullivan <br /> * MOTION to accept minutes of April 4, 1994 as amended <br /> PASSED: UNANIMOUS <br /> * G Burnell initiated a discussion regarding the pending amendment to be offered by the <br /> SC to fund a salary adjustment for non-teaching personnel. General discussion followed. <br /> * P Lapointe brought up the possibility of a trash fee in order to closed the budget gap <br /> which could be implemented by July 1st. <br /> * G Burnell asked if anyone thought it proper to live within our constraints. A lively <br /> discussion followed. <br /> * M Mairson feels that higher income individuals should and would pay more. <br /> * G Burnell expressed concern over giving salary increases to school custodians who are <br /> already compensated at a rate 20% higher than comparable communities. <br /> * MOTION to support the anticipated SC amendment for salaries in the area of <br /> $ 150,000 <br /> * MOTION: FAILED MAJORITY OPPOSED (GB,RS,PL,RB opposed) (JP,MM,CC in <br /> favor) (SN,CA absent) <br /> * G Burnell reminded AC of meeting on April 8th @ 4:00pm to review bids on <br /> Police Station/Central Dispatch. <br /> * MOTION to support amendment to be offered by C Grattan Baldwin regrading <br /> Commonwealth's obligation to fund C 766. <br /> * PASSED: UNANIMOUS <br /> * MOTION to adjourn <br /> * PASSED: UNANIMOUS <br /> acmtap6 <br />
