APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> MONDAY, APRIL 4, 1994 <br /> DIRECTOR'S ROOM, CARY HALL, 7:30 PM <br /> Present: G Burnell, C Coughlin, P Lapointe, J Pagett, C Abbott, R Souza, <br /> M Mairson, J Ryan <br /> Absent: S Nablo, R Borghesani, M O'Sullivan <br /> * MOTION to accept minutes of March 30th as amended <br /> PASSED: UNANIMOUS <br /> * General discussion of Article 31 as it appears on "Report of the Motion <br /> to be Submitted Under Article 31" by Jay Kaufman, dated April 4, 1994. <br /> * MOTION to support Article 31 <br /> PASSED: UNANIMOUS <br /> * G Burnell led general discussion as to whether the AC proceeds with its amendment <br /> to Article 4,Line Item 3000,DPW Expenses or does the AC make comments on the issue <br /> without offering an amendment. The projected savings from a street light change was <br /> originally in the area of $ 128,000,it is now estimated to be in the area of $ 48,000. <br /> * G Burnell feels that it is important for the Town Meeting to be aware that this was a <br /> possible savings without impacting the delivery of services or the programs offered in the <br /> schools. <br /> * P Lapointe wishes to go forward with the amendment and try to save $ 75,000 <br /> in the General Fund. <br /> * General discussion followed with G Burnell wishing to withdraw amendment and simply <br /> speak to the issue. <br /> * Sense of the AC was to go forward with the amendment <br /> * G Burnell stated that there was going to be a meeting on Thursday, April 7th at 4:00pm <br /> and will apprise the AC of details on Wednesday evening. <br /> * General discussion of the Hayward amendment on salary adjustments took place on the <br /> floor of Town Meeting <br /> * MOTION to support the amendment <br /> PASSED: MAJORITY (5y, 2n, 2absent) (n,GB, PL) <br /> * MOTION to adjourn <br /> acmnap4 <br />
