Halverson discussed problem of attracting and retaining <br /> lifeguards <br /> - long-term problem -- no real, creative solution <br /> - no apparent attraction to be a lifeguard <br /> - college starts early also <br /> M. O'Sullivan - Article 31-no funding available <br /> - Article 32-Town Manager submitted will need $5,000 more <br /> ($27,000) <br /> - Article 33-Town Manager submitted <br /> - Phase II on Lincoln Street $180,000 $100,000 all-purpose soccer <br /> (of three phases) $ 80,000 softball <br /> - ranking of priorities shortchanged Recreation last year <br /> - increase in fees without losing interest <br /> J. Halverson - no noticeable decline in usage with declining enrollment <br /> - Recreation Committee may bring Article 31 to Town Meeting <br /> floor <br /> Library - Bob Hilton, Stella Liu <br /> Robert Hilton - $100,000 Article - shelving, HVAC problems, carpeting <br /> replacement, fire safety upgrading (some smoke detectors <br /> and sprinklers) <br /> - architectural fees from Town Manager's professional <br /> services <br /> - computer -- extend service to public <br /> - no current need for memory <br /> DPW - Frank Fields, Richard Spiers <br /> - R. Cataldo feels that equipment puchase is appropriate <br /> - wing plow cuts in half 20 ft. wide road <br /> - difficult to engage large equipment, therefore must rely on own <br /> equipment <br /> - all replacement other than Bobcat <br /> - 86/87 winter increase in downtime and repairs <br /> - Article 23 Street Improvements $400,000 town <br /> $300,000 C. 90 <br /> $150,000 C. 90 remaining <br /> - Article re: Water -- should be okay <br /> Water leak detection $35,000 <br /> - Sidewalks - Prospect Street <br />
