140 <br /> TOWN WARRANT <br /> Commonwealth of Massachusetts Middlesex,ss. <br /> To either of the Constables of the Town of Lexington, <br /> in said County: Greeting: <br /> In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts , you are <br /> directed to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Lexington, <br /> qualified to vote in elections and in town affairs to meet in <br /> the Cary Memorial Building, in said Lexington, on monday, the <br /> 27th day of September, 1937, at eight o'clock P. M. , then and <br /> there to act on the following articles: <br /> Article 1. To receive the reports of any Board of Town Officers <br /> or of any Committee of the Town and to appoint other Committees . <br /> Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and <br /> transfer money fromavailable funds. for engineering work in <br /> connection with obtaining bids and preparing specifications and <br /> construction drawings for Vine Brook Drainage. <br /> Article 3. To see if the Town will authorize the Selectmen to <br /> execute and deliver a release of its easement to use for the <br /> purpose of Vine Brook improvement the property of the Arlington <br /> rive Cents Savings Bank adjoining the siteof the Town Office <br /> Building in exchange for a grant of full title to a strip of <br /> definite width adjoining Vine Brook as shown on a plan by John <br /> T. Cosgrove, Town Engineer, dated April 28, 1937, on file in <br /> the office of the Town Clerk. <br /> Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and <br /> transfer sums from available funds to the following accounts : <br /> Public Welfare; Old Age Assistance; Aid to Dependent <br /> Children; Removal of Snow and Ice; Sidewalk Construc- <br /> tion; Sundry Streets ; Law Department . <br /> Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and <br /> transfer a sum of money from available funds to defray the <br /> expenses incurred b the Retirement Board established under <br /> hapter 318 of the by <br /> of 1936. <br /> Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and <br /> transfer a sum of money from available funds to be paid to the <br /> Board of Retirement asa contribution from the Town for the <br /> Pension Accumulation Fund, under the provisions of Section 31G, <br /> Paragraph 3 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws, as amended by <br /> Chapter 318 of the Acts of 1936. <br /> Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate funds for <br /> labor and materials on public works and for other expenses in <br /> connection therewith, to be expended by the Selectmen for aid to <br /> persons employed on various projects , andprovide funds therefor <br /> by transfer from available funds. <br /> Article 8. To see if the Town will vote to install an 8" water <br /> main in Shade Street for a distance of approximately 1320 feet, <br /> subject to the assessment of betterments , and appropriate and <br /> transfer money from available funds therefor; and will authorize <br /> the Selectmen to .execute in the name and on behalf of the Town <br /> an agreement with J. Willard Hayden with respect to the said <br /> extension, including a stipulation for non-assessment or abatement <br /> of betterments for future extensions past the property of the <br /> said Hayden. <br /> Article 9. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a further <br /> sum of money for the purchase of the real estate n ered 1557 <br /> Mass. Avenue, Lexington, adjoining the Cary Memorial Hall, former- <br /> ly owned by the late William L. Barnes, and to provide the money <br /> by transfer from available funds or by the issuance of bonds or <br /> notes of the to . <br /> Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and <br /> transfer a sum of money from available funds for repairs to the <br /> Captain Parker Monument. <br />
