TOWN WARRANT <br /> COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS MIDDLESEX , SS , <br /> To either of the Constables of the Town of Lexington , Greeting; <br /> In the name of the Commonwealth you are hereby required to <br /> notify and warn the inhabitants of said town who are qualified to <br /> vote in Elections to meet in <br /> EMERSON BALL , STONE BUILDING , EAST LEXINGTON , ( Precinct I ) and in <br /> TOWN HALL , LEXINGTON CENTRE , (Precinct II ) , on TUESDAY , the <br /> Second Day of November , 1926 , at Six O ' Clock A . 4. , to cast their <br /> ballots for the following officers : <br /> Governor ; Lieutenant Governor ; Secretary ; Treasurer and Re - <br /> ceiver- eneral • <br /> A ito ttoneR enig ; Senato� in <br /> n Congress( to fin e � fin n rk 6rpTives <br /> in General <br /> Court , County Commissioner ; Associate Commissioners ; District <br /> Attorney ; Sheriff ; Register of Probate and Insolvency ( to fill <br /> vacancy ) ; County Commissioner ( to fill vacancy ) . <br /> And to bring in their votes on the following questions ; <br /> REFERENDUM <br /> Question 1 . Shall an amendment to the constitution which authorizes <br /> the General Court to establish in any corporate town containing <br /> more than six thousand inhabitants a form of town government pro - <br /> viding for town meetings limited to such inhabitants of the town as <br /> may be elected for the purpose , which received in a joint session <br /> of the two Houses held May 29 , 1924 , 189 votes in the affirmative <br /> and 40 in the negative , and at a joint session of the two Houses <br /> held March 18 , 1925 , received 262 votes in the affirmative and 4 in <br /> the negative , be approved? <br /> Question 2 . Shall a law which amends existing law by striking out <br /> the provisions that veterans who pass Civil Service examinations <br /> shall be placed upon the eligible lists above all other applicants , <br /> that disabled veterans shall be placed ahead of all other veterans , <br /> and that disabled veterans shall be appointed and employed in prefe <br /> erence to all other persons ; and by providing in place thereof , that <br /> five points shall be added to the mark of veterans who pass such <br /> examinations , and ten points to the mark of disabled veterans , which <br /> law was disapproved in the Senate by a vote of 0 in the affirmative <br /> and 34 in the negative , and in the House of Representatives by a <br /> vote of 11 in the affirmative and 181 in the negative , be approved? <br /> The polls will be open from six o ' clock A . M . to eight o ' clock <br /> P . M . <br /> And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting attested <br /> copies thereof seven days at least before the time of said meeting <br /> as directed by vote of the town . <br /> Hereof , fail not , and make due return of this Warrant , with your <br /> doings thereon , at the time and place of said meeting . <br /> Given under our hands , this nineteenth day of October , A .
