K <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> BOARD OF REGISTRARS LEXINGTON M <br /> July 23, 2021 <br /> The meeting of the Board of Registrars was called to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Robbin Room <br /> in the Cary Memorial Building, 1625 Massachusetts Avenue. <br /> Present: Registrars, Gordon Jones, Chair, Judy Moore, Mark Vitunic and Town Clerk, <br /> Nathalie Rice. The meeting was brought to order at 8:30 a.m. <br /> Election of Chair: <br /> MOTION: That Gordon Jones be appointed as Chair of the Board of Registrars for <br /> the upcoming 2021-2022 year. <br /> Motion approved. Mr. Jones abstained from the vote. <br /> Approval of Assistant Registrars and Signature Stamp Authorizations: <br /> MOTION: That the following staff of the Town Clerk's Office be designated as <br /> Assistant Registrars: Dianne Sperber, Lisa Maguire, Kelley Cutone-Clair and Gina <br /> Carme and that use of the Board of Registrar signature stamp with the names of Gordon <br /> M. Jones III, Judy E. Moore, Mark R. Vitunic, Nathalie L. Rice and Dianne Sperber be <br /> approved for the purposes of certification of petitions, nominations, and attestations. <br /> Motion approved. <br /> Review and Recommend 2021-2022 Election Officer Appointments: <br /> MOTION: That the Board review the List of 232 Election Officers for the 2021-2022 <br /> year, endorse and forward the list to the Board of Selectmen for appointment. <br /> Motion approved. <br /> Discussion of Upcoming Elections and Reflection on the 2020 Election Year: <br /> Ms. Rice updated the Board on upcoming elections. The Town's Annual Election will be <br /> March 7, 2022, with the voter registration deadline currently set at February 15th. Ms. Rice <br /> discussed the 2020 Election season with the Board, noting the enormous workload of the <br /> 2020 State Primary and 2020 General Election. She said it is likely Mail-in voting will be <br /> signed into law for state elections. Despite having developed procedures for Mail-in voting, <br /> Ms. Rice stated that Mail-in voting creates a great burden, which cannot all be assumed by <br /> seasonal Election Workers. <br /> Discussion of Retirement of the Town Clerk: <br /> Ms. Rice discussed her retirement in mid-September with the Board. Mr. Jones offered to <br /> have a Board member sit on the interview panel for the new Town Clerk if desired by the HR <br /> department.
