A
quorum of at least five was present throughout.

Members Present: Cindy Arens, Paul Chernick, Archana Dayalu, Rick Reibstein,
Todd Rhodes (vice-chair), Charlie Wyman

Members Absent: Celis Brisbin, Dan Voss (Chair)

Other Attendees: Mark Sandeen (Select Board), Marcia Gens, Mary Hutton (Mothers
Out Front)

The meeting was called to order at 5:05 pm. Todd referenced the opening statement requested
by the Town Clerk, and all members present responded that they could hear.

1. Review letter to Department of Public Utilities for submission to the Select Board.
Mark reviewed the history of this letter. Some months ago, we asked DPU to engage in
transition planning for the natural gas industry as we move towards a low carbon future. Since
then, DPU has allowed the utilities to hire their own consultant to do transition planning. The
Emmett Environmental Law and Policy Clinic at Harvard has prepared a letter to make the
point that municipalities have a great deal at stake in this transition and want to be part of the
planning process, and is inviting municipalities to sign on (we signed on to a previous letter of
theirs, along with 58 other municipalities, regarding the stretch energy code). Everyone
agreed it was a well-written letter. After further discussion, the committee voted unanimously
(6-0) to recommend that the Town Manager and/or the Select Board sign on to the letter.

2. Discuss committee participation in the Comprehensive Plan process. Todd explained
that Dan had received an invitation for committees to participate in a meeting to provide input
ther the time frame given to us (June 8, 10:45-
11:25) is reserved to us or in combination with other committees, or whether more than one
committee member is invited. Todd also
for volunteers, and Cindy offered. Discussion followed about the Comprehensive Plan, the
process to date, the broad area of overlap of the plan and the concerns of the Sustainable
Lexington Committee, and our desire to see the plan reflect town goals of sustainability and
resilience.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Charlie Wyman

1.
