Lincoln Park <br /> Minutes from meeting on May19, 2021 <br /> In attendance <br /> LP committee members: <br /> Brian Kelley <br /> Joanne Shorter <br /> David Williams <br /> Robert Pressman <br /> Lynn Wilson <br /> Non-committee members <br /> Wesley Wirth <br /> Andrew Dorner <br /> Lisa O'Brien—liaison from Rec. committee (arrived late, after Rec. Committee meeting) <br /> 1. Brian Kelley and Joanne Shorter were selected to be Chairman and Vice chair of the Lincoln Park <br /> subcommittee by a 5-0 vote. <br /> 2. Communication with Andy Dorner, resident of Baskin Road, about possible garden at the Granite <br /> Forest(GF)in memory of his wife who recently passed. <br /> Wesley Wirt shared thoughts on Dorner's proposal. <br /> Wesley's description of LP--rebuild area using native plant materials. Poplars and 3 American <br /> beech trees and a wild flower meadow outside the GF <br /> The intent is to have a wild flower seed mix in the meadow on perimeter of GF, and/or plugs, and/or <br /> small pots. <br /> Discussion followed on what should be planted on the interior of the GF. Possibly flowering perennials <br /> with low growing cover. <br /> David W. suggested meeting on site. Andy Dorner agreed. Will meet there. Also agreed about use of <br /> native plants. Suggested that shrubs would be home for birds, etc. and thought that right now more <br /> weeds than growth in GF. <br /> Bob P. commented that some of the trees in GF not doing well. There is a need to check on the health <br /> of the trees. Also asked if soil is good enough for perennials. Wesley-- the soil was amended and soil <br /> added when built GF. Could and should probably add to it. <br /> At 9:05, Andrew D. and Wesley signed off. <br /> 2. Update on work by Parterre/Gabe, and Barnard. <br /> Boardwalk-- Brian K. repaired it. <br /> Bags of invasive plants were still at site from last Friday. Brian K. will call Lex. DPW about it. He will <br /> also stop at LP on Friday to talk with Gabe. <br /> 3. Memorial to Cal Shen. Temporary sign is gone and permanent sign is in place. <br /> 4. Leslie Masson—vote was unanimous (5-0) to recommend to the Recreation Committee that she join <br /> the LP committee. <br /> Question was raised if Andrew D. should be asked to join the committee. Decided not to do so at this <br /> time. <br />
