<br />Lexington Tree Committee <br />Town of Lexington, Massachusetts <br />201 Bedford Street, Samuel Hadley Public Services Building, Room 125 <br />Minutes, Meeting of January 14, 2016 <br />Attendees: Nancy Sofen, Jewel Kuljian, Gerry Paul, Karen Longeteig, Anne Senning, Chris <br />Filadoro (Superintendant of Public Grounds, John Frey (Chairman), Jim Wood. Gerry Paul took <br />his turn as scribe. <br />1. Minutes of the December 10, 2015 meeting were approved as amended. <br />2. Tree removal activity – postponed. <br />3. Final status of Fall 2015 tree planting. Chris reported that all trees have been planted. <br />4. We agreed to plant 40 large, 20 medium and 10 small trees in the Spring. Anne will send <br />Jim a list of medium size trees she has identified. A group will meet at the DPW onThursday <br />Jan 21 at 3:00 to choose all the tree species. <br />5. Tree inventory <br />a) Chris has received a bid from David Rines and sent it to procurement. He will identify 2 <br />more potential vendors to bid on the work. <br />b) Chris will invite Davey Tree to present their system and services to the Committee. The <br />focus will be on how we can integrate their system with the Town's system. We will invite a <br />representative from the Town's IT department to attend. <br />6. The builder at 90-92 Grant Street is waiting for approval from the Conservation Commission. <br />We have a commitment from the builder to replant a minimum of 25 canopy trees and make <br />payments to the Tree Fund. <br />7. Arbor Day - We are looking forward to working with Jane Beswick of the Garden Club to <br />choose a location and tree species. Chris suggested Lincoln Field as a possibility <br />8. The two Warrant articles are with Town counsel. Chris will schedule a Public Hearing on the <br />articles. <br />9. Nancy reported on progress with the Website. The Committee agreed that it did not have to <br />review the changes that Nancy makes. Gerry will send Nancy statistics extracted from the Town <br />annual reports on tree plantings and removals. <br />11. Gerry reported that the plaque on the Dolberg commemorative tree was reattached with <br />compression springs to allow for tree growth. <br />We agreed we should monitor the other commemorative trees to see if other plaques need <br />attention. <br /> <br />
