MINUTES <br /> FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD <br /> December 14, 2020 <br /> 4:00 p.m., held by remote participation <br /> Present: Doug Lucente, Chair; Suzie Barry; Norman Cohen; Alan Fields; Ed Grant; Paul Shupe; <br /> Alan Wrigley; Melissa Interess, Director of Human Services; Tony Serio, Assistant Director of <br /> Family and Youth Services; and Kim Katzenback, Executive Clerk to the Select Board. <br /> Mr. Lucente stated the remote participation meeting is being held in accordance with Governor <br /> Baker's March 12, 2020 Executive Order suspending certain provisions of the Open Meeting <br /> Law to allow remote participation during Massachusetts' State of Emergency due to the outbreak <br /> of COVID-19. <br /> 1) Money Available as of November 30, 2020 <br /> Mr. Lucente reported that as of May 31, 2020, the Fund for Lexington Income balance was <br /> $29,121.58 and the Principal balance was $297,684.99. <br /> 2) Human Services Report: June 1 to November 30, 2020 <br /> Ms. Interess, Director of Human Services, reported the following activity for the funds dispersed <br /> for the period: Fund for Lexington - $2,665 for rent payment; $299.95 out of the Heating <br /> Assistance Pilot(Remaining balance - $1,887.33); Human Services Emergency Fund - $6,099.86 <br /> ($2.271.10 for SA- Moving expenses, first/last rent, $280.00 for JF- Hotel during power <br /> outage, $95.00 for TP - Cell phone bill, $1,253.76 for OM - Overdue medical/dental bills <br /> $2,200 for UN - Rent (not COVID-related); and Lexpress subsidized passes fiscal year- 22 <br /> passes, value of$3,480. <br /> Ms. Interess stated that the Human Services Emergency Fund currently has a healthy balance <br /> from which to provide financial assistance to residents affected by COVID-19. In addition to the <br /> $25,000 provided from the Fund for Lexington, a $250,000 donation from Takeda <br /> Pharmaceutical Company was deposited into the Human Services Emergency Fund. She also <br /> stated that the Lexington Housing Assistance Board dissolved its subgroup LeHAC and <br /> transferred LeHAC's funds of approximately $9,000 into the Human Services Emergency Fund. <br /> Ms. Interess reported that, for this reporting period, $21,396 has been disbursed from the Human <br /> Services Emergency Fund to assist 15 families in need due to COVID-19. <br /> Upon a motion duly made and seconded, by roll call, the Fund for Lexington Board voted 7-0 to <br /> give $4000 for the Human Services Heating Assistance Fund <br /> Melissa Interess reported Planned disbursement of$9,000 in wish list items to eligible <br /> families. She stated the following contributions have been made: Contributions: $2,000 <br /> Youth Commission; $1,000 Grace Chapel; $3,000 Rotary Club. She asked if the Fund for <br /> Lexington Board would make a contribution. <br />
