Minutes of the Lexington Tree Committee
May 27, 2021
Held virtually via Zoom
Present: Gerry Paul (chair), Mark Connor, Gloria Bloom, Nancy Sofen,Jim Wood, Mark Sandeen (Select
Board
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 am.
The Tree Committee voted unanimously to approve the following:
Tree Committee Position on Removal of Tree at 120 East Street
At a meeting on May 27, 2021 the Lexington Tree Committee voted to approve the following
position regarding removal of a locust tree in the Town right-of-way in front of 120 East Street.
"The tree is a large healthy locust with two trunks of approximate DBH (diameter at breast
height) of 17 and 19 inches for a total of 36 inches. It provides carbon sequestration, shade, and
contributes to the tree canopy. Other than possible interference with electrical service that can be
resolved with appropriate pruning, the tree presents no disadvantage to the homeowner or the public.
We recommend that the Board not grant permission for removal of the tree and that the Town prune
the tree on an as-needed basis"
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 am.
Respectfully submitted,
Gerry Paul
