Greenways Corridor Committee May 4, 2015 Training Room, Hadley DPW Building Lexington, Massachusetts Members Present: Kevin Breunig, Alex Dohan, Peggy Enders, Eileen Entin, Bob Hausslein, Keith Ohmart, Mike Tabaczynski Other Attendees: none Votes: Minutes approved: 3/30/2015 Reports/Updates: We need to change the date of the June meeting in order to get a quorum. Keith will solicit input via email. Bike Walk Bus Week is coming up. Volunteers needed for Commuter Breakfast setup. Peggy showed sample of signs letting pedestrians know how long it will take to walk from one place to another (e.g. from the Library to the Post Office). The GCC and the ACROSS Lexington websites have been updated with new information, including Routes C & D. The Boston area Greenbelt walk will be held May 30. Bob will help Laurel Carpenter with route flagging. Kevin is working on publicity. David Neal has been working on an app that includes Routes C & D. Keith included a budget outline that should be submitted with the minutes, for archiving. As trail building/marking materials come in, they will be stored at the Hennessy Field Barn. Current Business Review: The Board of Selectmen is working on Goal Setting and has asked for input from Town Committees. Keith will draft a letter that will include making Walking Safety a priority. We could use a form for reporting damage on ACROSS routes. We should err on the side of More when deciding how many waysigns to put up, and make a note of any reports of confusing locations, to sign them better. Bob and Don have been mounting brochure holders at kiosks and on posts. Bob will keep brochures in the shed at his house, in case anyone wants to have some to hand out or refill holders. Bob lives at 20 Slocum Road. Field Report on Route E - it has a “muddy angle”that will need some upgrading. There is no easement at present off the Martingale “lollipop”. We should come up with some sort of sign to mark the End of connector or spur (non-loop) routes when appropriate. Do we want signs that indicate if routes are more or less appropriate for biking? Should we grade the routes with difficulty levels?
