There are several that Lorain will call and <br /> gauge interest level. <br /> * Discussion of donations from Wilson's for Patriot's Day and Memorial Day. <br /> * Suzie summarized MLK activities. <br /> * Suzie told committee about CAAL contacting her and asking for a $ 500 donation <br /> for Chinese New Year on January 24th. Group felt that this request was beyond the <br /> preview of the committee to do so. We are responsible for 5 celebrations….Patriot's <br /> Day, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, MLK Day and Dance Around the World. <br /> Geetha let the committee know about the plans for this and that they are trying to find a <br /> co-chairman. Rehearsals will be 2/28 and 3/1. The celebration itself will be on 3/14. <br /> * Suzie described the official process on how to solicit sponsors. A letter needs to be <br /> sent to Carl Valente who forwards this to the Selectmen. Applications are due back <br /> Feb 15th and March 1st. <br /> * Linda said Colonial Times and Lexington Shopper will run ads soliciting Parade <br /> Ambassadors, especially students who could earn 4 hours of Community Service. <br /> *Clergy involvement…. Linda told us that Pastor Brent Maracle from St. Paul's <br /> Evangelical has already volunteered for the April events. <br /> *There are approximately150 tickets for the reenactment. <br /> * There will not be any handouts at the parade. Candy, flyers, balls will not be <br /> allowed. Only flags will be allowed. <br /> * Grand Marshall choice is Hank Manz. <br /> * We still need a Grand Marshall for Memorial Day. Linda suggested Bill Stern. <br /> Bill is a member of the Lexington Veteran's Association and a WW2 vet. Bill is 95 <br /> years old. Linda will follow up with this. <br /> * Saturday, April 11th will be the rehearsal for the reenactment on the green. <br /> * Radios will be available through MEMA. Paul will check with Officer Fero. <br /> * Lorain needs to know about any conflicts during Patriot's Day weekend… <br /> Minutemen, Police and Historical Society need to come to consensus. <br /> * Patriot's Day award ceremony will be held at LHS auditorium if weather is inclement. <br /> <br />
