This non-meeting began at 7:00.
Previous minutes for meetings in 12/10/14 and 1/7/15 were
deferred.
Group discussed but did not vote on any business.
*New member applications were discussed. There are several that Lorain will call and
gauge interest level.
* Discussion of donations from Wilson's for Patriot's Day and Memorial Day.
* Suzie summarized MLK activities.
* Suzie told committee about CAAL contacting her and asking for a $ 500 donation
for Chinese New Year on January 24th. Group felt that this request was beyond the
preview of the committee to do so. We are responsible for 5 celebrations….Patriot's
Day, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, MLK Day and Dance Around the World.
Geetha let the committee know about the plans for this and that they are trying to find a
co-chairman. Rehearsals will be 2/28 and 3/1. The celebration itself will be on 3/14.
* Suzie described the official process on how to solicit sponsors. A letter needs to be
sent to Carl Valente who forwards this to the Selectmen. Applications are due back
Feb 15th and March 1st.
* Linda said Colonial Times and Lexington Shopper will run ads soliciting Parade
Ambassadors, especially students who could earn 4 hours of Community Service.
*Clergy involvement…. Linda told us that Pastor Brent Maracle from St. Paul's
Evangelical has already volunteered for the April events.
*There are approximately150 tickets for the reenactment.
* There will not be any handouts at the parade. Candy, flyers, balls will not be
allowed. Only flags will be allowed.
* Grand Marshall choice is Hank Manz.
* We still need a Grand Marshall for Memorial Day. Linda suggested Bill Stern.
Bill is a member of the Lexington Veteran's Association and a WW2 vet. Bill is 95
years old. Linda will follow up with this.
* Saturday, April 11th will be the rehearsal for the reenactment on the green.
* Radios will be available through MEMA. Paul will check with Officer Fero.
* Lorain needs to know about any conflicts during Patriot's Day weekend…
Minutemen, Police and Historical Society need to come to consensus.
* Patriot's Day award ceremony will be held at LHS auditorium if weather is inclement.
