1979 Annual Report <br />Town of Lexington, Massachusetts <br />COVER PICTURE: Bandstand Dedication <br />September 16, 1979 <br />In celebration of its fiftieth anniversary <br />the Rotary Club of Lexington presented the <br />Town with the bandstand at Hastings Park. <br />The acceptance of this gift and the construc- <br />tion of the bandstand required extended co- <br />operation between private organizations and <br />Town agencies. The Bicentennial Band and its <br />successful summer concerts on the Green <br />were the foundation of the entire project. The <br />Permanent Building Committee worked with <br />the Rotary Club on the design and location of <br />the bandstand. The permission of the Historic <br />Districts Commission was a condition of its <br />location at Hastings Park. The Department of <br />Public Works cooperated in the construction, <br />and the Selectmen are happy to have played <br />an overall supportive role. The Board records <br />its thanks to the Rotary Club on behalf of the <br />entire community. <br />Robert B. Kent, Selectman <br />
