Lincoln Park Subcommittee <br />Meeting Minutes January 5, 2015 <br />Committee members present: David Williams, Lynne Wilson, Bob Pressman, Joanne <br />Shorter, Cindy IKuechle, Nell Walker <br />Others Present: Wes Wirth, Miles Connors, Wendy Rudner <br />Meeting opened at 735pm. Discussed minutes from 12/9115, <br />Mr. Williams clarified his previous comments that there is no money at this time in LP <br />budget for granite forest. Minutes were approved as amended unanimously. <br />Nell Walker celebration was excellent and well- deserved. <br />Hank Manz wondering about Eagle Scout projects <br />Miles suggested cart path improvements towards future possible granite forest, building <br />up the path 6" to help drainage. Wes suggested it could be quite a bit of work and could <br />be up to 3 Eagle Scout projects. Could use 40 yards of gravel. Bob Barnard would <br />likely need to be involved <br />Mr Williams shared a Boston Globe articie about Governor Patrick's commission on <br />funding public art. Could be possible funding for granite forest. Wes will keep us <br />posted. <br />David passed around a letter from John Frey thanking Lynne for her words at Nell's <br />celebration <br />Mr. Williams passed around letter from Peter Coleman referencing the Teresa and <br />Roberta Lee Fitness and Nature Path and explaining the site. We added verbiage <br />describing the overlook and new trails. <br />Rec Dept would like an update on our status on Jan 21st meeting at 7pm <br />Wendy says they would like to discuss the granite forest project in terms of budget. Rec <br />budget is tight but it was made clear and agreed upon by the committee that we would <br />not seek support.from Rec committee in the form of funding but rather positive public <br />comment /support <br />Bob Pressman says CPC has approved $880,0000 or more for 2015 TM projects. If we <br />want CPC money the project would likely be submitted through the Rec Dept but would <br />not seek Rec Dept funds. Mr Williams also mentioned that we should look for support <br />from the Arts council and the tree comrnittee <br />Wes would like us to keep poetry as a concept in mind for the granite forest. He spoke <br />with poet Robert Pinsky about helping out. Pinsky has done this type of thing before in <br />California. Wes was hoping for a referral from Pinsky. Cindy mentioned Cary Library as <br />a starting point. Wes mentioned possibly doing the engraving over time. It was <br />
