<br />Approved 2/6/2014 <br />Minutes for Antony Working Group meeting of the Lexington Tourism Committee on January 8, 2014 <br />Meeting began at 7:00 PM---adjourned at 9:06 PM <br />Present at meeting: Dawn McKenna, Kitty Galaitsis, Tony Galaitsis, Sandy Gasbarro, Maureen Poole, <br />Marie Christine Tofighi, Jacqueline Vital <br /> <br />Documents available for review: <br />1.Minutes of December 11, 2013 <br />2.A French A Faire Action List updated January 7, 2014 <br />3.Draft Committee Roles sheet as of 12/11/2013 <br /> <br />1)Events <br />a)A French A Faire, February 9, 2014 --- Continued discussion related to tasks in “Action List.” Jacqueline Vital <br />joined in for the meeting and is interested in helping. Marie Christine from EFGB will distribute posters to <br />locations in her group. Lots of talking/consideration of auction items. Maureen will update spreadsheet <br />“Action List” prior to next meeting. Posters and tickets should be available by the weekend. Tickets-- $35 <br />th’s <br />each. Marion Campos was selected as guitarist for Feb. 9 A French A Faire entertainment component. <br />Maureen will send email and secure Marion’s confirmation. Dawn will contact HSA (Harvard Student <br />th <br />Agencies) for bartenders. Outreach to parents of the students going to Antony on February 7 for 3 weeks . <br />th <br />. . invite them to participate in A French A Faire on Feb. 9 . . . for a little bit of Antony in Lexington --- as <br />“connection” with and celebration of their children “now” in Antony! <br />th <br />b)March 15 Voyages en Francophonie --- Application for Cary Hall is complete with Antony Group <br />as co-sponsors of the event. Ashley will connect with Sophie. Seeking answer to question of <br />liability insurance. Dawn has news that Gerry Cody of Health Dept. has approved a single <br />application fee of $15 for foods at the event from out of town. Cary Hall may be visited at any <br />time during “open” hours by the folks from EFGB for their planning purposes. Cathy and Marie- <br />th <br />Tristan are trying to connect with appropriate teachers at the schools to promote this March 15 <br />function. Dawn to speak with Laura, principal of the high school. Marie Christine has spoken with <br />Heather at the high school about their 3 French groups and the potential of community service <br />credit for students helping Antony projects (interviews, translating “Passports,” etc . . .) <br />c)Dîners Amicaux --- Friendship Dinners. Deferred to next meeting. <br />d)Kitty and Tony reported on the meeting in Boston where they represented our sister city group at <br />rd <br />the “Reunion de Francophonie”. (Their next meeting will be on Feb. 3.) The French Consul and <br />many French language and French culture groups are present at these monthly meetings. Sophie <br />Camard was there also, and spoke about the Voyages en Francophonie that will be held on March <br />th <br />15 at Cary Hall. <br />2)Antony Park --- Nothing was done before the snows. Now waiting for better weather. Phase 1 set <br />to go --- ground work and leveling. Phase 2 contract not put out yet. <br />3) Minutes --- Upon motion duly made and seconded, the minutes of December 11, 2013 were <br />approved. Suggestion made that minutes be sent to the group a week ahead of next meeting. <br />4)Financial Report --- A letter was sent out regarding attendees repayment of their portion of the <br />May visit. Two-thirds have paid. $2000 is still outstanding. Tony and Dawn will meet next week <br />about financial records. After all bills were paid for the visit in May, there is a balance of <br />$18,589.73. We have $6,200 in pledges, and 5 of the 14 trees are sold. <br />5)Committee roles --- Additional updates made, listing 11 names under the A French A Faire <br />Committee. Discussion about ways of “naming” the working group members . . . as “core” group . <br />. . as “organizing” group . . . no decision made. <br />6)Other activities ---Deferred to next meeting. <br /> <br />(P.S. --- While preparing the minutes, it was learned that the Visitors Center WILL sell tickets and accept <br />credit cards!) <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, Maureen Poole <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
