<br />TOWNOFLEXINGTON <br />LEXINGTONTREECOMMITTEEMINUTES <br />DECEMBER11,2014 <br />AmeetingoftheLexingtonTreeCommitteewasheldonDecember11,2014,7:309:30amattheSamuel <br />HadleyPublicServicesBuilding,Room125.Aquorumoffivewaspresent. <br />MembersPresent:ChrisFiladoro(PublicGroundsSuperintendent,TreeWarden),JohnFrey(Chair),Anne <br />Senning,JewelKuljian,GerryPaul,JimWood <br />MembersAbsent:SelectmenLiaison,KarenLongeteig <br />1.JimWoodwasappointedasscribe,andtheminutesofNovember13,2014werereviewedand <br />approvedasmodified. <br />2.ChrisFiladoropresentedacomprehensivereportonTreeRemovalapplicationsandactivity(attachedto <br />theseminutes). <br />3.ChrisFiladoroandDaveLefCourt(CityArborist,Cambridge)havetalkedaboutcontractorstohireto <br />completethetreeinventoryandwillmeettofurtherexploreoptions. <br />4.ChrisFiladororeportedthattheFallPlanting2014willbecompletedtoday,Dec11,2014.Atotalof68 <br />treeswereplantedincluding15IronwoodatAntonyPark(anewsectioninTowerPark,Massachusetts <br />Avenue). <br />5.SpringPlantingJimWoodwillobtainandforwardupdatedlistsfromBaileysand{ĭŷźĭŷƷĻƌ͸ƭ͵Inaddition <br />hewillcontactDouglasTallamy,authorofͻ.ƩźƓŭźƓŭNatureIƚƒĻͼforhisrecommendations,givenall <br />thecurrentdiseasesandpestsattackingourtrees. <br />6.AnneSenningshowedusthebrochureshepreparedforͻ!CelebrationofNell‘ğƌƉĻƩ͸ƭLifeandher <br />contributionstotheTownof\[ĻǣźƓŭƷƚƓ͵ͼThecelebrationwillbeheldonDec.12,2014,attheSamuel <br />HadleyPublicServicesBuilding,201BedfordSt.,Lexington,MA. <br />7.LincolnParkwillreceivegraniteblocksfromthehomefoundationthatwasadjacenttotheoldDana <br />Home.Thesewillbelocatedinthemeadowareaalongthepath.TheTreeCommitteeisbeingasked <br />toparticipatewiththeselection,obtainingandplantingoftreesinthisarea.Wewillparticipatebut <br />willneedtoworkwiththeLincolnParkpeopletodetermineourlevelofcommitment. <br />8.ReplacementofLargeBeechinfrontofVisitorsCenter:KarenLongeteig,JohnFrey,andJimWoodmet <br />onsitetogatherinformationandmakerecommendationstotheTreeCommittee.KarenLongeteig <br />submittedourreportonDec5,2014.Inbrief,theBeechistoofargonetobesavedandshouldbe <br />removedinitsentiretyandreplacedbyanAmericanSycamore.InadditionKarenwilldrawupaplan <br />foradditionaltreestolendformtotheareaandtheadditionofsomestreettrees.MattFoti <br />recommendedweavoidplantingCornusFloridaastheyareextremelysusceptibletoAnthracnoseand <br />wouldrequireyearlyspraying. <br />9.GerryPaulspokewithMarkValentioftheDPWaboutthecurrentsidewalkreplacementpolicy,whichis <br />toreplaceexactlywhatwastheretomitigatediscussionwithhomeowners.Gerry(andtheTree <br />Committee)wantasidewalkpolicythatleavesopportunityfortreeplantingwhenreplacement <br />sidewalkisputdown.MarkValentiwillspeakwithDavePinsonneaultandBillHadleyaboutthisnew <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />
