Town of Lexington
Commission on Disability
Victoria Buckley, Chair
Commission on Disability
C/o 18 Bates Road
Lexington, MA 02421
September 24, 2012
Anna Monaco, Principal
Jonas Clarke Middle School
17 Stedman Road
Lexington, MA 02421
RE: Clarke elevator
Dear Principal Monaco,
The Lexington Commission on Disability has recently reviewed the audit study
completed on the public buildings in Lexington summarizing the technical deficiencies of each
facility that do not meet the ADA accessibility standards. We have prioritized what we see as
the most important projects to propose as features of a five-year plan to correct the problems.
We have decided that the most critical need is the elevator at Clarke Middle School. Since this is
a large and expensive project, we would first like to see a study done to carefully and
thoughtfully plan what should be done.
The Commission would like your support for us to proceed with our proposal for the
implementation of this study. We value your guidance and input as we work together to resolve
this crucial access issue for students. We look forward to working closely with you and your
staff as well as with Pat Goddard, Dr. Ash, Linda Chase, the School Committee, and members of
Lexington SEPAC, as we are very committed to seeing this project happen.
Please contact me with any questions you may have using either my email address
vbuckley@rcn.com or my cell phone 617-997-5472. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Victoria Buckley
Cc: Pat Goddard, Director of Public Facilities
Linda Chase, Director of Student Services, Lexington Public Schools
Dr. Paul Ash, Superintendent of Schools
Margaret Coppe, Chair, Lexington School Committee
Elizabeth Billings-Fouhy, Director, Lexington SEPAC
1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420
