Lincoln Park Subcommittee <br />Meeting Minutes December 9, 2014 <br />Committee members present: David Williams, Chairman, Brian Kelley, Joanne Shorter, Lynne <br />Wilson, Bob Pressman <br />Others present: Wendy Rudner, Recreation Dept.; John Frey Tree Committee, Christine <br />Burwell Chair Arts Committee <br />Meeting opened at 7:35pm <br />1.The minutes from 10/27/14 were approved unanimously. <br />2. Spring Plantings: Parterre, <br />Azalea garden ($23K) and boardwalk ($18K) <br />Motion approved to fund the spring plantings by Parterre <br />3. Handyman was found since last meeting--Timothy Linn. Fixed boardwalk. Cost of $412.50. <br />manager and others will be speaking. <br />5. Granite Forest discussion: <br />The granite for the areisff6in the foundation of Milliken home (1856 home). <br />David Williams --N money in Lincoln Park budget for granite forest development. Don't want <br />to dip into endowment to pay for this. <br />Has gotten 2 bids for the project. One at $75K, and second at $60K. These include 12K for trees. <br />Trees -- 16 poplars. John Frey from Trees committee thinks it is possible that the Trees <br />Committee could fund the trees. <br />Discussion about finding funding of the granite forest-- two primary points of discussion were <br />writing grants (for example, in response to Mass. Humanities call for grant applications), and <br />CPA funding. <br />Christine (arts council) really likes the idea of the Granite Forest, connecting past and present. <br />Mass. Humaniti call for Grant applications. Information on Lexington Council of <br />Arts website. <br />CPA funding—Bob Pressman said should submit under parks and recreation. Normal <br />dealing of Nov. 1. If want to go to CPA, next deadline is Nov. 1, 2015. Then to town meeting <br />2016. Money available July 2016. Only 1 page required <br />Comments made that are thrilled with Tim's work so far. <br />4. Ceremony in honor of Nell Walker -- on Friday December 12, 2-4pm at DPW Building. Town <br />Other thoughts about the project: because it is on path to field, use 'sport' type inspiration path. <br />Next steps: Set up meeting with Wesley. and include Arts commission. <br />
