<br />TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS <br />CONSERVATION COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />Tuesday, May 20, 2014 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />Selectmen’s Meeting Room, Town Office Building <br />1625 Massachusetts Avenue <br /> <br /> <br />Chair Joyce Miller opened the meeting at 6:41 pm in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room of the Town <br />Office Building. <br /> <br />Commissioners Present: Joyce Miller, Phil Hamilton (arrived at 7:31 pm), Stew Kennedy, Dick <br />Wolk, Duke Bitsko, Jane Warren, and David Langseth <br /> <br />Others Present: Karen Mullins, Conservation Administrator and Michelle Morelli, Community <br />Development Department Assistant <br /> <br />PENDING MATTERS <br /> <br />6:42 pm Wetlands restoration plan: 442 Marrett Road <br />Dean Curtin, Owner and Rich Kirby, LEC Environmental Consultants were <br />present for this discussion. Mr. Kirby explained that the proposed plan to restore <br />the site will encompass removal of fill, re-creation of a drainage swale, re- <br />vegetation with native plantings and ten trees in which they will monitor for two <br />growing seasons. Mr. Langseth asked for a clarification on the slopes of the <br />drainage swale and anchoring details for securing the erosion control fabric. Mr. <br />Bitsko commented on the seed mix and upland species. Ms. Mullins gave a brief <br />history of the site and violations that have occurred. <br /> <br />Motion made and seconded to amend the enforcement order which will include a <br />pre-construction meeting and monitoring more than once a year, 6-0 in favor. <br /> <br />7:02 pm Land Use Permit Application: Turning Mill Road parking area, Friends of the <br />Burlington Landlocked Forest <br /> Martha Simon, President of the Friends of the Burlington Landlocked Forest was <br />present for this discussion. Ms. Simon explained that they have held prior events <br />within the previous three years and there were no complaints regarding parking. <br />Ms. Simon stated that mountain bikers were notified of the hours of the event. <br />Ms. Mullins commented that an abutter will address the parking situation on the <br />th <br />June 10 Conservation Commission and stewards joint meeting. <br /> <br /> William Lenderking of 4 Grimes Road stated that he appreciated Martha’s effort <br />to protect the forest and agrees that parking will not cause any problems. <br /> <br /> Motion made and seconded to approve the use of the Turning Mill Road parking <br />st <br />area and entrance into the Burlington Landlocked Forest on June 1 from 10 am <br />to 2 pm, 6-0 in favor. <br /> <br />thrd <br />7:17 pm The Commission postponed approving the minutes from May 6 until June 3. <br /> <br /> <br />
