<br />TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS <br />CONSERVATION COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />Tuesday, March 11, 2014 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />Parker Room, Town Office Building <br />1625 Massachusetts Avenue <br /> <br /> <br />Chair Joyce Miller opened the meeting at 6:39 pm in the Parker Room of the Town Office <br />Building. <br /> <br />Commissioners Present: Joyce Miller, Phil Hamilton, Stew Kennedy, Dick Wolk, David Langseth <br />and Duke Bitsko <br /> <br />Commissioners Absent: Jane Warren <br /> <br />Others Present: Karen Mullins, Conservation Administrator and Michelle Tassi, Community <br />Development Department Assistant <br /> <br />PENDING MATTERS <br /> <br />6:39 pm Approval to install a Wood Duck nesting box this Spring, Don Grant <br />Don Grant was present for the approval to install a Wood Duck nesting box at <br />Dunback Meadow. The box will be fastened to the tree with spacers in the back <br />and wood shavings inside. A small tunnel is on the front of the box for entering. <br />Hand tools will be used for the construction of these boxes. <br /> <br />Motion made and seconded to approve the installation of a Wood Duck nesting <br />box this Spring at Dunback Meadow, 6-0 in favor. <br /> <br />6:42 pm Approval for letter of support for community endowment grant – iPhone app <br />David Neal was present for the approval for the letter of support for the <br />community endowment grant. Mr. Neal explained that he built an application for <br />the Across Lexington trails for the iPhone and iPad. Mr. Neal’s goal is to <br />maximize use by people in the Town of Lexington and expand the application’s <br />capabilities. <br /> <br />Mr. Bitsko is in favor of the application, but would like it to be honored by all <br />smartphones. Mr. Neal replied that this is the first step to promote the <br />application and in the future it will be expanded upon. Mr. Kennedy and Mr. <br />Hamilton are in support of the application. <br /> <br />Motion made and seconded to approve the letter of support for community <br />endowment grant, 5-1. Ms. Miller voted against the proposal due to the fact that <br />it is not supported by all smartphones. <br /> <br />6:57 pm Land Use Permit Application – Scout Cooking Demo at Willard’s Woods, <br />Thomas Marge <br /> Mr. Hamilton stated that he read over the permit application for a Scout cooking <br />demo at Willard’s Woods. Ms. Mullins commented that the Conservation <br /> <br />
