<br />TOWN OF LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS <br />CONSERVATION COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />Tuesday, January 28, 2014 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />Parker Room, Town Office Building <br />1625 Massachusetts Avenue <br /> <br /> <br />Chair Joyce Miller opened the meeting at 6:36 pm in the Parker Room of the Town Office <br />Building. <br /> <br />Commissioners Present: Joyce Miller, Phil Hamilton, Stew Kennedy, Dick Wolk, Jane Warren <br />and David Langseth <br /> <br />Commissioners Absent: Duke Bitsko <br /> <br />Others Present: Karen Mullins, Conservation Administrator and Michelle Tassi, Community <br />Development Department Assistant <br /> <br />PENDING MATTERS <br /> <br />6:36 pm Informal Discussion: Artis Senior Living Preliminary Conceptual Plan, 430 <br />Concord Avenue <br /> Rich Kirby, LEC Environmental Consultants, Gary Larson, Michael Novak, <br />Meridian Associates, and Mr. Hicks were present for this discussion. Mr. Kirby <br />gave a brief background of the restoration area and the existing conditions. He <br />stated that there is an ongoing enforcement order on site. Mr. Kirby explained <br />that the restoration area is 6,000 square feet larger than the requirement from the <br />Department of Environmental Protection. <br /> <br /> Mr. Langseth asked the needs for successful replication. Mr. Kennedy asked for <br />an explanation of the output location of the drain and if it currently worked <br />without relocating. Mr. Wolk stated that the project is over-engineered to <br />maximize infiltration for the neighboring water level concern. Mr. Langseth <br />asked if the proposed generators were back up power and suggested the <br />representative look at fuel spill management. Mr. Langseth commented that this <br />proposal is a reasonable step forward given the soils and infiltration rate. <br /> <br />7:00 pm Informal Discussion: Pine Meadows Golf Course, Dredging of Irrigation Pond <br />Project, 255 Cedar Street <br /> Megan Buczynski and Elyssa Jacobs were present for this discussion. Ms. <br />Buczynski explained that the pond was dredged about 17 years ago and there has <br />been a significant amount of sediment buildup. The project will take about one to <br />two weeks to complete and will require equipment to be stored near the pump <br />house. Ms. Jacobs stated that testing will occur on the materials within the <br />sediment for herbicides, pesticides, etc. <br /> <br /> Ms. Miller commented that the Commission has not checked the wetland line. <br />Ms. Jacobs gave a description of the topography on site.
