<br />APPROVED MEETING NOTES <br />Committee Name: Lexington Bicycle Advisory Committee <br />Date, Time and Location of Meeting: Thursday, October 9, 2014, Parker Room, <br />Town Office Building <br />Members Present: <br /> Peggy Enders, (Chair), Marita Hartshorn, Laurel Carpenter, Bob <br />Dangel, John Frey, Sandra Shaw (Recreation Liaison), Carolyn Levi, George Gagliardi, <br />Bob Hausslein, Mike Tabaczynski <br />Others Present <br />: Jennifer Melot <br />September Meeting Minutes <br />: The September minutes were approved as amended. <br />Grain Mill Alley Workshops: <br />Although Melisa Tintocalis was unable to attend this <br />meeting, members discussed their reaction to the current proposals. A member <br />remarked that the designs “occlude traffic to and from the Bikeway,” another remarked <br />that the proposals include amenities in the alley that would “be a nightmare to get <br />through.” Another member said that the landing area would need copious bike parking. <br />John Frey mentioned that Clinton has an interesting water treatment in a similar area. <br />Minuteman Bikeway Signage Update <br />: Bob Dangel reported that he had met with <br />Steve Smith and Chris Tonkin to discuss details regarding content, style, and location <br />of certain Bikeway signage. <br />TSAC Meeting: <br />Carolyn Levi said that, at the last TSAC meeting, members discussed <br />development of an online accident report form and bike safety education for students <br />(Carolyn reported that Mary Ellen Dunn said that she and the superintendent of <br />schools support the idea of a bike safety education program; however, they cannot <br />fund the program but will assist LBAC in distributing literature to schoolchildren. The <br />TSAC police representative also indicated support.) Carolyn reported that TSAC also <br />discussed the recent accident on the Bikeway between an 11 year old cyclist and a <br />walker who fell and broke his ribs as well as the need for but lack of police presence on <br />the Bikeway. <br />Tri-Town Meeting Agenda <br />: A number of members will attend.The agenda includes <br />nighttime use of the Bikeway, winter planning, and Bikeway signage. <br />Proposed Changes on Hartwell Avenue (update): <br /> Nothing to report. John Livsey <br />has not yet set a meeting for committee members to meet with him. <br /> <br />
