<br />Commission on Disability <br />Minutes of Meeting on March 6, 2014 <br />Held at New Community Center, 39 Marrett Road <br />In Attendance: <br />Victoria Buckley, Chair, Linda Vine, Assistant Town Manager and ADA Coordinator, <br />Janet Perry, Julie Miller, Len Morse-Fortier, Francine Stieglitz, Michael Martignetti, Harry MacKay <br />(Senior Center Liaison) and Sue Cusack <br /> <br />Also attending: Sheila Butts, Charlotte Rodgers, Karen Simmons and Patrick Goddard <br />NOTE: Approval of last monthÔs minutes (FebruaryÔs) will be done when we are next in <br />regular meeting <br /> <br />Tour of new Community Center - Commission met at the new Community Center, at 39 Marrett <br />Road. A tour was led by Pat Goddard. Commission members were joined by Sheila Butts from <br />Recreation and Charlotte Rodgers from the Senior Center. Tour included all aspects of the site with <br />intended functions of each room specified. <br /> <br />Special attention was paid to the fitness area, on the lower level. A request was amade by a resident <br />for a separate sensory room area intended for people with sensory issues who may or may not be also <br />on the autism spectrum. Commission felt that isolation was not the answer Ï that careful and judicious <br />integration was preferable Ï with possibly an alcove of the main room set aside for sensory items. <br /> <br />Suggestions for entrances and incorporating more natural light in the lower area were offered by Len, <br />and Pat said that more discussion will follow. <br />
