Commission on Disability
Minutes of Meeting on January 9, 2014
In Attendance:
Victoria Buckley, Chair, Linda Vine, Assistant Town Manager and ADA Coordinator,
Janet Perry, Julie Miller, Len Morse-Fortier, Francine Stieglitz, Michael Martignetti, and Sue Cusack

Approval of last monthÔs minutes

Discussion about Center Streetscape project, with John Livsey, Town Engineer Ï Overview
of project was presented with plans that are incorporating ideas and concerns of residents from series
of public meetings. Commission reiterated its concerns as being parking, access and inclusion, and
non-brick sidewalks.

Discussion about the Community Therapeutic Day School, with Bruce Hauptman, MD,
Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and CTDS Board Treasurer Ï The school is requesting a
building variance for their plans to renovate the back building, the ÑbarnÒ. The barn is built into the
side of a hill so there is a level entrance to the second level from the outside and one to the first level
from the outside as well. They would like a letter from the Commission supporting their request for a
variance to not have to provide access to the second floor from inside the building as well. The
Commission will write a support letter.

Further discussion about the new Lexington Community Center Ï Full access is being
included in the plans and plans will be shared with the Commission regularly.

Update on The Inn at Hastings Park Ï As discussed at the last meeting, the Commission did not
support the InnÔs request to open partially over the holidays even though the access parts of the
construction were not completed. It was felt that opening should be the same for all guests.

Additional new business and update on new projects Ï Snow removal issues were discussed.
