<br />PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE <br />HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION <br />Minutes of Thursday, March 6, 2014, Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Hall Building at 7:00PM <br />Commissioners present: Joseph Welch, Chairman, Lynn Hopkins, Robert Warshawer, Paul Ross <br />Associate Commissioners: Marilyn Fenollosa, Britta McCarthy <br />Department Clerk: Linda Rainville <br /> <br />FORMAL HEARINGS <br />40 Hancock Street: <br />Jane Williamson presented the colors they are intending to paint their home. The <br />body of the house will be Charcoal Slate #86, Shutters; Black #80, Trim; Brilliant White # PM4, Door; <br />Heritage Red #25. They will put house numbers (black) on the outer gate posts. They will come back in <br />the near future with plans for the barn. <br />All in favor of the changes <br />1709 Massachusetts Avenue: <br />Peter Darlow presented plans for the door changes and signage. The <br />original door is a pair of double doors to be replaced with a mahogany 3/4 door with a side-light. New <br />hardware and mail- slot. The Menu Board will be replaced in-kind. He also presented the plans for <br />signage for Beijing Chinese Dining. The signs will be places on the Mass Ave side and the Edison Way <br />side of the building. The letters will be ½” thick brushed brass. Letters will be individual pin mounted <br />onto wall with lighting above the sign. The sign on the back of the building will be replaced to match. <br />The Blade sign will be a solid surface, with no internal illumination. It will be ¾” thick PVC with <br />burgundy color aluminum panel, ½” thick white PVC lettering. <br />All in favor of the changes <br />1776 Massachusetts Avenue: <br /> Leonard Tunik presented plans for signage. The blade sign will be a blue <br />(matching the business card) and black hung on a wrought iron bracket, placed to the left of the door in <br />alignment with the sign above the door. The building sign will be individual bronze lettering without the <br />symbol, non-illuminated sign, placed above the door (where the 1776 is now). Address numbers (1776) <br />to be placed in the alcove, above the mail box. <br />All in favor of the changes <br />1656 Massachusetts Avenue: <br />No one appeared. The lift will be a replacement in kind <br />CONTINUED HEARINGS <br />927 Massachusetts Avenue: <br />Carl Oldenburg appeared to present minor design changes in the original <br />plan. He will add shutters to three windows in the garage area, a black railing to the front stairs. He <br />discussed the exterior paint colors and materials.He will bring in exterior lighting fixture samples. <br />All in favor of the changes <br />INFORMAL HEARINGS <br />Sustainable Lexington: <br /> Mark Sandeen, Chairperson, spoke to the Commission about developing a <br />Climate Action Plan. Better Buildings Program goal to improve the emissions from buildings by 20% by <br />2020. Approximately 900 homes in Lexington have had some sort of an energy assessment, 1800 <br />updated furnaces to high efficiency systems. Would it be to put together a document to help residents to <br />provide guidelines for appropriate renovations that will reduce emissions, energy costs, etc. Ms. <br />Fenollosa spoke about Preservation Green Lab. (Preservation Nation.org) which has done guidelines for <br />preservation of historical homes. <br /> <br />
