<br />October 3, 2013 <br />PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE <br />HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION <br />Minutes of Thursday, November 7, 2013, Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Hall Building at 7:00PM <br />Commissioners present: Lynn Hopkins, Paul Ross, Daniel Griffin <br />Associate Commissioners: Carl Oldenburg and Barbara Feldman <br />Department Clerk: Linda Rainville <br />FORMAL HEARINGS <br />19 Hancock Street: <br /> Jane Wilson did not appear. <br />1690 Massachusetts Avenue: <br /> Kevin Latady presented plans for signs the Vine Brook Building. The <br />sign on the building will be 12” white letters (same as on the back of the building). There will also be 3 <br />signs on posts (same as existing) in the parking lot. Approved - 3 in favor and one opposed. <br />7A Meriam Street: <br /> Rachael Greenwald, representing Pinots Palette, presented plans for two signs. One <br />sign will be a blade sign with raised letters hung to the left of the door. The second sign will be hand cut <br />letters mounted on fascia board. Approved – All in Favor <br />55 Forest Street: <br /> Henry Liu, showed plans to repair front stair. He will use brick with bluestone caps. <br />He will reuse whatever bricks he can and the bluestone will have rock-face nosing. He will come back <br />with his choice for railings if needed. Approved – All in Favor <br />CONTINUED HEARINGS <br />9 Meriam Street: <br /> Thomas Woods appeared before the Commission with plans for replacing 88 <br />windows. The windows will be wood, 8 over 8 windows to fit within current frames. Approved – All in <br />Favor <br />19 Muzzey Street: <br />Jeffrey Lyons showed the Commission plans for the new front entry door. The <br />Commission suggested the door be more symmetrical. The shutters will match the others on the building. <br />Hardware will be black. Mr. Lyons will return at a later date with new plans <br />INFORMAL HEARINGS <br />927 Massachusetts Avenue: <br /> Carl Oldenburg presented plans for demolition of the existing single family <br />house and garage, and construction 2 new single family dwellings on this property. While acknowledging <br />that complete demolition of a structure in the district was a serious decision, the commission generally <br />agreed the original house had been seriously compromised by multiple previous renovations, and thus <br />complete demolition was justifiable. The commission emphasized the importance of quality materials, <br />massing and details in the new structures, and was supportive of the proposed design direction <br /> <br />
