October 3, 2013
PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE
HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
Minutes of Monday, December 16, 2013, Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Hall Building at 7:00PM
Commissioners present: Joseph Welch, Chairman, Lynn Hopkins, Robert Warshawer, Paul Ross
Associate Commissioners: Carl Oldenburg and Marilyn Fenollosa
Department Clerk: Linda Rainville
FORMAL HEARINGS
927 Massachusetts Avenue:
Brian Lavelle and Carl Oldenburg presented revisions to the original plans
for a house to be built. The structure is changed from 2 separate structures to one connecting structure. It
will be a colonial style house with a barnlike structure in the back. The foundation may be from the
original structure. The Commission is concerned that the garage section will look out of place. Historical
precedent would be just the railings and no corner walls. The Commission recommended adding a
window to the garage, and some changes to the placement of windows on the house. Drawings of the
windows and doors will be brought in at a later time. An abutting neighbor had some concerns about the
plot line and existing foliage and the easement at the foot of the driveway. They also questions whether
the deck above the garage would align with their garage. Mr. Oldenburg told the neighbor what the
interior would be like. The neighbor from across the street questions what would prevent changes once
the plans were approved. It was explained that the Building Department was required to do inspections as
the project moves along.
The Commission approved the demolition of the existing structure and replacement with proposed
structure.
This is continued to the February HDC Meeting.
CONTINUED HEARINGS
19 Muzzey Street:
Jeffrey Lyons did not appear
1099 Massachusetts Avenue:
Beverly Seaver, presented a change in the original plan.
