Minutes <br />Town Celebrations Committee <br />October 16, 2013 <br />Training Room, 201 Bedford Street <br />Members present <br />Suzie Barry, Chair; Dick Crogan, co -Vice Chair; Bob Tracey, Co -Vice Chair; Linda Dixon, Mary Gillespie, <br />Paul Jenkins, Barbara Manfredi, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Henry Murphy, Charlie Price. <br />Members not present <br />Sondra Lucente, Sandy Podgorski, Dave Taylor. <br />Business <br />• The chair declared that a quorum was present. <br />• Two guests attended the meeting: Lorain Marquis, a prospective member, and Richard <br />McDonough, attending as part of his Citizen's Academy responsibilities <br />• The committee approved the minutes of September 18, 2013 <br />• The next meeting on October 30 will focus on final preparations for the Veterans Breakfast <br />New Member Recruitment <br />The New Member Open House will take place on Thursday evening, October 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at <br />the home of Linda Dixon. Twenty -five prospective members will be invited. Eight committee members <br />volunteered to attend the event and to contribute a menu item. The Committee reviewed the format for <br />the evening as well as the main points for the informal group discussion. <br />Veterans Day 2013 <br />Veteran's Breakfast <br />• Setup: Setup will take place at Keilty Hall on Friday, November 1 at 2:30 p.m. <br />• Ticket sales: slow at this point, but we are in the early stages. <br />• Speaker: The speaker is LTC Ted Weibel, Commander, Detachment 365, Air Force ROTC at MIT. <br />• Door Prizes: Dick and Sandy continue to make great progress in securing door prizes. <br />Veteran's Day Parade and Ceremony <br />• Assignments: Suzie, Bob, Linda, Paul, Wayne and Mary will report to the Police Station parking <br />lot at 9:30 a.m. to help organize the parade. At 10:00, Mary will move into Cary Hall while the <br />others will complete the parade route and return to Cary Hall at approximately 10:50 a.m. Julie, <br />Dick and Barbara will report directly to Cary Hall after the parade steps off. <br />• Chief Marshal & Speaker: Mary Gillespie will request a biographical profile from Col McLaughlin. <br />• Wreaths: Have been ordered <br />• Clergy: All set <br />Patriots Day 2014 <br />• Parade application: This year, the parade application will change to an on -line version. <br />
