Lexington Tree Committee <br />Town of Lexington, Massachusetts <br />201 Bedford Street, Samuel Hadley Public Services Building, Room 125 <br />Minutes, Special Meeting of September 17, 2013 <br />Attendees: John Frey (Chairman), Gerry Paul, Jewel Kuljian, Anne Senning, Jim Wood and <br />Chris Filadoro, (Superintendant of Public Grounds). Absent: Karen Longeteig, Nell Walker, <br />Deb Mauger (Selectman's liaison). Gerry Paul took his turn as scribe. <br />This special meeting was held to discuss fall tree planting. <br />1. Chris asked that we set expectations carefully with home owners as to when setback trees <br />will be planted. <br />2. We plan to plant 50 bare root trees this fall. Jewel has identified 7 sites and Anne 14 sites. <br />As these sites are finalized, Jim requests an email be sent to him. Jim also noted that Dig Safe <br />has a 5 day lag. <br />3. Anne will provide Chris with the list of approximately 100 potential sites in the tree inventory <br />data base. <br />4. Chris will identify 30 additional sites for street trees (bringing the total identified sites to 50). <br />Chris will investigate planting some trees in parks. <br />5. Chris will obtain an estimate from a contractor to excavate planting pits of size: 3'x5'x18" <br />6. The goal is to have stakes identifying the planting locations in the ground by the 3 d week in <br />October. <br />7. The plan is to have all trees planted by Thanksgiving. <br />Next regular meeting: October 10, 7:30 a.m. at DPW <br />
