Lexington Tourism Committee <br />Minutes of the meeting of <br />Thursday, February 12, 2013 at 7 pm <br />Robbins Room <br />ATTENDEES: Kerry Brandin, Pam Shadley, Masha Traber, S. Bijan Afshartous, Victoria Buckley, Joe <br />Rancatore, George Burnell, Pat Costello, Dawn McKenna <br />VISITORS CENTER PROGRAMMATIC INPUT <br />GENERAL PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING <br />Participants were provided with the Executive Summary and Conclusions from the 1/20/12 Programmatic <br />Report. They were asked to comment specifically on whether the goals identified reflected their vision, <br />as well as to list any programmatic needs that should be addressed. The general public participated in <br />this meeting. Comments from all were recorded, whether or not there was agreement on those issues. <br />Although not all comments focused directly on the two questions, all points made are included. A list of <br />attendees follows. <br />GOALS: <br />• Need space to service visitors as they expect to be served <br />• Conflict between orientation and visitor services <br />• Need for orientation space <br />• Provide Chamber handicap accessibility <br />Driving force should be exhibit space <br />PROGRAMMATIC NEEDS: <br />• Serve those taking breaks <br />• Redo outside space <br />• Roof overhang over outdoor space <br />• DON'T TOUCH PURPLE BEECH - TOURISTS COME TO SEE <br />• Men's women's and HC restrooms <br />• Site survey money - make architect be real <br />• Consider exhibit designer integrated in design team <br />• Approach is important - exhibit space important <br />• (don't come through vending space) <br />• Not attractive - orient and motivate <br />• Need to have multiple ways to provide information <br />• Modernize technology <br />Flag to indicate building open <br />MISCELLANEOUS: <br />• Where to locate tour busses <br />Peak interest not satisfaction <br />Adjourned at approximately 10:00 am <br />Respectfully submitted, Dawn McKenna <br />Documents available at the meeting: <br />1.
