Current Business Review:
• ACROSS Lexington Project (Keith) — Keith and Rick met with John Livsey, Dave
Cannon, and some other Town people, to discuss upcoming DPW work and how
it might work into ACROSS planning. Work is planned at Old Mass Ave and
Mass Ave that could help the West Lexington Greenway; near West Farm and
Liberty Heights; at Highland Ave and Vine St; and possibly where Lincoln St
goes under Rte 128.
• We've learned that Lexington has some private streets, which should not affect
ACROSS planning, but is something to be aware of Judy Seppala is creating an
overlay for the GIS maps that will identify those streets.
• Data Collection form (Mike) — Mike presented the data collection form that he
created for working on the next phase of ACROSS. A long discussion ensued
about using the form, specifically the mechanics of using it. The goal is to build a
detailed description of the route to go into the GIS system. There will be many,
many data points, some on paper and some on GPS programs for those who wish
to use those. Rick will send out his map of the proposed route. When people walk
any part of it, please email the Committee so we can keep track of what has been
walked. Rick will collect and monitor the data, which be compiled in a
spreadsheet in Dropbox.
Current Business Updates:
• Bike Walk `n' Bus Week (Peggy) — Lots of walks, rides and other events are
planned for May 5 -11. In addition to Peggy, GCC members Keith, Rick, Paul,
Aaron and Stew Kennedy are all leading excursions.
• Toole, the consultant group working on the Minuteman Bikeway through
Arlington, Lexington and Bedford, will exhibit the first draft of their
recommendations at the Lexington Depot during an open house from 1 -4pm on
May 5, sponsored by Friends of the Lexington Bikeway. Rick has some ideas for
an ACROSS table at that event.
• Report to Board of Selectmen (Keith) — discussion on report of West Lexington
Greenway to BoS was pushed to the next meeting.
4. New Business:
• Paul presented a map of the West Lexington Greenway to get us thinking about
next steps there.
