LEXINGTON DESIGN ADVISORY COMMITTEE
April 5, 2013
To: Board of Appeals
Re: 324 Marrett Road, Lexington, MA
Amendment to special permit — proposed site improvements
The DAC reviewed the proposed improvements and had the following comments and recommendations.
a. DAC recommended that an air pump, preferably free, be added to the site program.
b. DAC recommended that paved access to the neighboring commercial property to the south be provided
through the proposed planting.
c. DAC recommends that the new plantings and site wall along the western property line should be
installed in concert with all existing vegetation to be preserved to provide the best screening and
landscape treatment.
d. DAC recommended that the planting at the driveway entrances be low enough for visibility and hardy
enough to withstand the anticipated harsh conditions in those areas. The DAC encourages the applicant
to use more native, drought tolerant plants throughout the site and encourage year round interest.
e. DAC reiterated that there should be no signage on the dispenser area canopies and that the existing
pylon sign should not increase in size and the internal lighting be diminished as much as possible.
The Design Advisory Committee recommends this project be approved pending compliance with the
recommendations noted above.
Respectfully submitted,
Timothy D. Lee, Chairman
Lexington Design Advisory Committee
Cc: Board of Selectmen
Greg Zurlo, Planning Board
Mr. John Smolak, Applicant representative
