TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br />Members: 11 full (up to 15 subcommittee members) <br />Appointed by: Board of Selectmen <br />Length of Term: 3 years full; 1 year subcommittee <br />Appointments made: June 30 <br />Meeting Times: Usually every other week except weekly March and April <br />Description The Committee is charged with planning and carrying out the proper observance of Patriots Day and <br />all such holidays and special events as the Board of Selectmen may designate from time to time. <br />Criteria for Membership The Town Celebrations Committee should include people who: <br />• Have specific knowledge of Lexington's history and historic celebrations <br />• Represent Lexington's newer citizens <br />• Have good working relations with the Lexington Minute Men <br />• Work well with others <br />Ref.: Lexington Code Chapter 29 § 15 -16 <br />Increase Subcommittee membership to 15; adopted by Selectmen on July 12, 1999 <br />Selectmen designated as Special Municipal Employees on April 24, 1963. <br />Selectmen reaffirmed designation as Special Municipal Employees on January 18, 2006. <br />Selected voted on August 28, 2006 to remove term limits. <br />Selectmen voted to increase full Committee membership from 9 to 11 on September 20, 2010. <br />
