<br />DESIGN ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />TOWN OF LEXINGTON <br />Meeting Minutes: <br /> <br />October 5, 2005 <br /> <br /> <br />Present: <br />Bahig Kaldas, John Frey, Carl Oldenburg (acting chair), Alenka Slezak, Colin Smith, <br />Betsy Whitman <br />Scribe: <br /> <br />Alenka Slezak <br />Call to Order: <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:40PM by Carl Oldenburg <br />Approvals: <br />Minutes of the September Ò05 meeting were approved with a minor typographical <br />correction. <br /> <br /> <br />Presentations/Review: <br />Captain Parker Arms Apartments <br />A proposal for a sign at the corner of Waltham St. and Worthen Rd. was discussed. <br />There was not a representative present to answer any questions. Based on the paperwork <br />that was submitted, it was determined that the information was insufficient to make any <br />conclusions; however, there are some comments/questions of note, as follows: <br /> -What materials, colors and finishes are being proposed? <br /> -Consider the size/scale of the sign. <br /> -There was no mention of lighting Î so we presume this will be an unlit sign. <br /> <br />-There is some concern as to the safety issue with respect to li <br />pertains to the proposed location. Also, might it be too distracting for drivers going by as <br />there is lots of information on the sign at a very busy intersection? It may be preferable <br />to locate the sign further down Worthen Rd. toward the entrance to the apartment <br />complex. <br /> <br /> <br />General Discussions: <br />Improving Signage Application Process <br />It might be helpful to reference the existing website for signage guidelines in order to <br />further educate applicants what the town requirements are. Additionally, perhaps the <br />booklet could be a part of the hand-out together with the application form as standard <br />procedure. Carl/Colin plan to communicate this with office staff. <br /> <br /> <br />
