Community Preservation Committee Meeting — 10116, 2008 <br />Present: CPC Chair Betsey Weiss, Joel Adler, Norman Cohen, Marilyn Fenollosa, Jean Krieger, <br />Wendy Manz, Leo McSweeney, Dick Wolk and Sandra Shaw (recorder) Also present: David Kanter, <br />Capital Expenditures; Patrick Goddard, Director of Public Facilities; and Liz Billings -Fouhy of the <br />Harrington Pre- School. <br />Pat Goddard presented the committee with a status report of the Harrington Pre- School <br />Playground which showed considerable increases over the original estimate. A supplemental <br />funding request for $38, 500 in additional CPA funds will be entered into the 2010 capital data <br />base. The committee discussed the reasons for the increase and voted 8 -1 to approve the request. <br />This request will be taken up at the November 17 Town Meeting, necessitating a Public Hearing <br />to be scheduled. <br />Pat also gave a report on the status of projects previously funded. The CPC received a list of the <br />FY 2010 — FY 2014 Five Year CPA Projects from the Schools, Public Facilities, Police, Fire, <br />Library, Recreation, Community Development and Town Clerk's Office. Town Manager Carl <br />Valente has submitted the information to Town Counsel for his review. The CPC will meet with <br />Kevin Batt, Town Counsel, on Wednesday, October 29 at 4:00 p.m. to discuss the eligibility of <br />the various projects. <br />2. Dick Wolk, Conservation representative to the CPC, discussed the status of the five parcels of <br />land that have been considered by the Conservation Commission for possible purchase with CPA <br />funding. At this time only the two Goodwin parcels will be placed on the Fall Town Warrant for <br />consideration. The CPC voted 9 -0 to put these two parcels on the warrant. A Public Hearing on <br />the two parcels will be held on November 6 at 3:30 p.m. <br />3. Betsey Weiss and Marilyn Fenollosa gave an update of their efforts to hire a new administrative <br />assistant for the CPC. After many applications submitted and several interviews held, they have <br />offered the position to a woman from Lincoln who has worked with their Conservation <br />Commission. She would have a full-time position for the Town - working with the Finance <br />Department and the CPC. She would work three days for the CPC. <br />4. Betsey reminded the CPC of the upcoming CPA Coalition Conference on November 1. It was <br />unclear who might attend. She also announced that the Coalition will be presenting the Robert <br />Kuehn Preservation Award for $3,500. The Douglas House project will be nominated by us. <br />5.
