Lexington Human Rights Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 2, 2012 <br />Present: Bob Kent, Linda Vine, Michael McLean, Emily Lavine, Puran Dang, Bonnie <br />Brodner, Fuang -Ping Huang, Melissa Buttaro <br />Meeting was called to order at 8:00 am. <br />Welcomed guest Sean Osborne <br />December 2, 2011 minutes were approved as mailed <br />Police Department Report — Lt. McLean; the Dept is creating a Diversity Group to <br />conduct diversity training in order to better understand the different cultures and to serve <br />the different ethnic groups in town. The Dept is also recruiting volunteers to join the <br />Diversity Group /Training. <br />The police department routinely tracks the activity of hate groups that tend to visit <br />Lexington. <br />School Staff Report — Melissa Buttaro; LHS had a successful Waltham House <br />fundraising. LHS will observe the annual Day of Silence in April. There was a possible <br />hate sign posted at LHS which was removed. <br />Town Manager's Office - Linda Vine; Customer Service Training is being designed <br />that will focus on working with a diverse resident population. All departments will <br />participate including front line service staff, seasonal employees, town volunteers and <br />elections workers. The town will offer this training to approximately 400 + individuals. <br />The retreat and program planning is postponed to next meeting until Al Zabin can attend. <br />Puran Dang will invite Koren Stembridge to the next meeting to discuss the various <br />programs being offered at Cary Memorial Library <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:30 am. Next meeting date is to be determined. <br />
