1985 Town Meetings - Article Action Summary <br />SPECIAL TOWN MEETING - May 29, 1985 <br />Article 1. REPORTS. Reports were received from the <br />Conservation Commission, Town Manager, Selectmen, <br />Appropriation Committee, Capital Expenditures <br />Committee, and School Committee. <br />Article 2. CONSERVATION LAND PURCHASE, WEST FARM, <br />OAK STREET. ADOPTED: 164 to 3: To authorize the <br />Conservation Commission to purchase the 3 remaining <br />lots and a conservation restriction at the back of <br />the barn; to appropriate $270,000, $70,000 to be <br />transferred from funds voted under Article 40 of the <br />1975 Annual Town Meeting, the remaining $200,000 to <br />be bonded. <br />Article 3. CONSERVATION LAND PURCHASE, CHIESA FARM, <br />ADAMS STREET. ADOPTED 158 to 15: To authorize the <br />Conservation Commission to purchase part of the <br />Chiesa Farm; to appropriate $1,500,000, to be <br />bonded. <br />SPECIAL TOWN MEETING, December 2, December 16 <br />Article 1. REPORTS. Reports were received from: <br />Town Manager. Board of Selectmen, Cary Lectures <br />Committee, Lexington Housing Authority, <br />Appropriation Committee. December 2. <br />Article 2. EDUCATION STATUTE. ADOPTED unanimously <br />To accept on its behalf and on behalf of Minuteman <br />Regional Vocational Technical School District the <br />provisions of Section 13 of Chapter 188 of the Acts <br />of 1985 (An Act Improving the Public Schools of the <br />Commonwealth). December 2. <br />Article 3. MOTEL /HOTEL TAX STATUTE. ADOPTED unani- <br />mously. To accept Section 3A of Chapter 64G of the <br />General Laws, and that the excise be at the rate of <br />4 %. December 2. <br />Article 4. SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS. ADOPTED <br />unanimously. To appropriate $62,000, to be trans- <br />ferred from the E & D Account, supplemental to money <br />appropriated at the 1985 Annual Town Meeting, for <br />the following line items: $20,000 for Account 5250 <br />(Building Maintenance expenses), $17,000 for Account <br />4150 (Fire Dept. expenses), and $25,000 for Account <br />1090 (General Professional Services, Manager's <br />Office). December 2. <br />Article 5. HANDICAPPED RAMP, CARY HALL. ADOPTED <br />unanimously. To appropriate $65,000 from the E & D <br />Account, supplemental to money appropriated at 1985 <br />Annual Town Meeting, for providing handicapped <br />access to Cary Hall. December 2. <br />Article 6. ARCHITECTURAL STUDY, SCHOOL BUILDINGS. <br />ADOPTED unanimously. To appropriate $60,000 from <br />the Reserve Fund - Overlay Surplus Account for an <br />architectural /engineering survey. December 2. <br />Article 7. PINE MEADOWS GOLF COURSE. Postponed to <br />December 16 on December 2. INDEFINITELY POSTPONED. <br />December 16. <br />Article 8. MORROW CROSSING. ADOPTED. To authorize <br />the Selectmen to use $120,000 appropriated under <br />Article 64 of the 1984 Annual Town Meeting for pur- <br />chase of land and buildings at 25 -27 Bedford Street <br />and to convey such property to the Lexington Housing <br />Authority. December 2. <br />Article 9. FOOTWAY, DUNBACK MEADOW CONSERVATION <br />LAND. INDEFINITELY POSTPONED. December 2. <br />Article 10. EMERALD STREET LOTS. ADOPTED <br />unanimously. To authorize the Selectmen to take by <br />emminent domain Lots 197 -198 on Assessors' Property <br />Map 58, and to transfer them to ensure that afford- <br />able housing is built thereon. December 2. <br />Article 11. DISSOLVING COMMITTEES. INDEFINITELY <br />POSTPONED. December 2. <br />Article 12. FRANKLIN SCHOOL. LOST.
