Minutes of the meeting of <br />Monday, November 28, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. <br />Room G -15 <br />Members Present: Carla Fortmann, Mary Gillespie, Dawn McKenna, John Patrick, Denise Ricketts, Lou <br />Sideris, Jim Shaw <br />Staff: Masha Traber <br />Guests: Susan Bennett, Norman Cohen, Alison Falitoco, Fred Johnson <br />Absent: Mary Jo Bohart, Kerry Brandin, Bebe Fallick, Nicole Lewis, Paul O'Shaughnessy, <br />1) Minutes <br />a) Upon Motion made and duly seconded, the minutes of November 7, 2011 were approved <br />unanimously. <br />2) Buckman Tavern Lease <br />The Town of Lexington owns the Buckman Tavern. It is managed by the Lexington <br />Historical Society pursuant to a lease voted by Town Meeting on May 15, 1913. The 100 <br />year lease expires in 2014 and the Historical Society has requested an extension of the lease. <br />Selectmen Norman Cohen was invited to discuss with the Tourism Committee regarding <br />recommendations for terms of the lease. <br />3) Strategic Vision Discussion <br />There was a long discussion regarding the Vision and Mission Statement. Upon Motion <br />made and duly seconded, the committee unanimously voted to adopt the following mission <br />and vision statement: <br />Mission: To create economic development opportunities through tourism. To be achieved <br />by: building awareness of the many attractions available to tourists and local residents in our <br />town; Fostering an environment where the town, attractions, organizations and businesses <br />collaborate to reinforce the visitor experience; running tourist attractions; creating and <br />managing events and festivals; and acting as a point of contact for tourism information in <br />Lexington. <br />Vision: Lexington is known throughout the United States and Internationally as a world - <br />class tourism destination offering a unique and seamless range of services for tourists and <br />residents alike. Visitors are encouraged to Linger in Lexington, thereby generating revenues <br />for the town, attractions, and businesses. <br />4) Liberty Ride Operations <br />a) Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to increase the price of a charter that <br />includes trolley rental be increased to $600. <br />b) It was agreed that the start of the Liberty Ride would be on Sunday, April 1s <br />5) Use of Marketing Funds <br />a) Sponsoring the Trip Advisor page was considered a priority for this funds.
