April 25, 2005
Minutes
Town of Lexington Appropriation Committee
Monday, April 25, 2005

Location: Selectmen’s Meeting Room and adjacent hallway, Town Office Building

Members present: John Bartenstein, Deborah Brown, Rod Cole, Richard Eurich, David
Kanter, Alan Levine (chair), Ron Pawliczek

This meeting was held in conjunction with a meeting of the Board of Selectmen. Only
limited discussions of the Committee took place and those were in response to issues
which arose during the meeting.

The Board of Selectmen discussed appropriations to cover anticipated overruns in a
number of departments. P. Kelley suggested that additional funds be appropriated to the
Reserve Fund, rather than to the individual departments, in order to preserve flexibility.
The Board asked whether the A.C. would support this, and after a short discussion, the
A.C. convened in the hall. Even though it was pointed out that it is debatable whether
some of the overruns are “extraordinary and unforeseen”, the A.C voted (7-0) to support
the appropriation of an additional $150K to the Reserve Fund.

There was limited discussion of whether the Committee would support reconsideration of
the Article approving the Community Preservation Act.

The Committee rejoined the BoS meeting and reported that we would support the
addition to the Reserve Fund.

Respectfully submitted,

Alan Levine, acting Secretary

Approved June 22, 2005
