<br /> Capital Expenditures Committee <br /> <br />November 28, 2001 <br /> <br />7:30 P.M. Meeting called to order. <br /> <br />Present: Tom Griffiths, Charles Hornig, Shirley Stolz, Narain Bhatia, George Burnell. . <br /> <br />Charles Hornig and Nahrain Bhatia moved to the DPW hearing for a new facility at Hartwell Ave. <br /> <br />7:40 P.M. The Committee was joined by Peter Torode, Fire Chief. <br /> <br />Peter presented the preliminary capital budget for each of the next five years. The items presented <br />represent replacement of existing equipment based on their useful life with an effort to level year <br />to year expense. <br /> <br />An extended discussion transpired regarding the replacement of Engine 2 (Pumper) in FY 2003, <br />the Committee being satisfied with the justification: $311,800. <br /> <br />The Committee recommended a slight change in sequencing of the additional items: <br /> FY 2004 Replace Engine 4, Brush $270,000 <br /> Replace Two-Way Radio Engineering Cost <br /> FY 2005 Replace Two-Way Radio $160,000 less FY 2005 engrg cost. <br /> Replace Engine 1, Pumper $343,830 <br /> FY 2006 Replace Rescue 2, Ambulance $163,000 <br /> Replace Bucket Truck $ 82,500 <br /> FY 2007 Replace Engine 5 $280,000 <br /> <br />At 8:45 P.M. the Committee moved to the DPW meeting at the Museum of Our National <br />Heritage. The Committee listened to the presentation and subsequent questions until the DPW <br />adjourned at 9:30 P.M. A brief discussion followed of the DPW proposal and it's impact on the <br />use of 201 Bedford Street. The Committee remains skeptical of the advantage of relocating the <br />DPW. <br /> <br />No formal action or votes were taken. <br /> <br />No other business came before the meeting. <br /> <br />Adjourned at 9:50 P.M. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br />George A.
