<br />Lexington Tree Committee Minutes of August 21, 2008 <br /> <br />Attending: John Frey, Jeanne Krieger, Karen Longeteig, David <br />Pinsonneault, Gerry Paul, Anne Senning, Nell Walker, Jim Wood and Jon <br />Penney (tree inventory intern). <br /> <br />1. Gerry Paul was appointed as scribe. Minutes of June 5 and July 10 were <br />approved. <br /> <br />2. Tree Warden's agenda items: Dave Pinsonneault <br /> <br /> a. Tree removal applications and activity: 604 sites/465 closed; 731 <br />trees to be removed/517 removed; 1768 to be planted; 1143 planted. <br /> <br /> b. Tree inventory - Anne Senning/Jon Penney: The summer inventory work <br />is complete; 1555 trees were inventoried. Two comprehensive reports were <br />produced: "Potential Planting Areas" and "Tree Health Maps & Attribute <br />Tables by Precinct". <br /> <br /> c. A subcommittee was appointed to determine the types of trees to be <br />planted in the 88 identified potential tree planting locations. <br /> <br /> d. Tree farm - Jim Wood: Jim staked 20-25 trees. There has only been <br />a 50% survival rate on the Scarlet Oaks. <br /> <br /> e. The replacement for Commemorative Tree #4 (Mayo) was planted at <br />Lincoln Park. <br /> <br /> f. Dave will complete a draft of the Homeowner Tree Planting Agreement <br />by our next meeting. <br /> <br /> g. We recommended that Green Ash and Silver Linden be alternated along <br />the Mass. Ave sidewalk project (continuing what had been done on the <br />previous segment). <br /> <br /> h. Susan Yanofsky, the Town Economic Development Officer, presented <br />plans for the pedestrian access project from the parking lot behind the <br />center. One Sugar Maple (approx 8" diameter) will be removed. Two new <br />trees will be planted. This is consistent with Tree Bylaw replacement <br />policy. <br /> <br />3. J. Frey, G. Paul and A. Senning indicated that they would like to be <br /> reappointed to new terms on the Committee. <br /> <br />4. Friends of Trees. Bittersweet eradication days are planned for <br /> September 20 and October 25. <br /> <br />5. We are scheduled for a discussion with the Climate Plan Action <br /> Committee on September 9 at 7:00 pm in Room 111. <br /> <br /> <br />
